Biological washing power - why not?

I have been told and it seems generally the rule that you don't use biological washing powder on baby clothes. I would like to know the reason why though?

Any sources of studies would be nice if you know any... preferably not sources such as washing powered manufacturers though since they could be a tad bias.

I think some skins are quite sensitive to it. It's not advised for anyone with skin problems as it is more prone to cause rashes etc, I think. So, as babies have lovely soft brand new skin, I suppose that is why?

It's really up to you, I always use bio powder as pretty much all baby and toddler related stains are biological and could do with the enzymes to clean them - I did this with my cloth nappies and never had any problems. If you have eczema or similar in your family you might want to avoid it just for peace of mind. I've read that in most other countries aside from the UK they don't have non-biological powder and don't have more skin problems. In some cases it's just the brand of powder/liquid that causes a reaction, not whether it's bio or not.

yes, I agree. Despite what I said earlier, I actually have sensitive skin myself and am allergic to an ingredient that's in most soaps and shampoos, but I don't have any trouble with bio powder. Which is just as well, given the state of my DC's clothes on a normal day.
