OBSTETRIC CHOLESTASIS - any tips on how to relieve the itching?

My lovely friend is suffering from obstetric cholestasis and while the medication she's taking is reducing her bile levels it's unfortunately not reduced the itching at all.

She's due to be induced in about a week (38 week induction policy round here for obstetric cholestasis) but is in a terrible state with the itching on her stomach, ankles and wrists, so much so that she's now developed an angry raised red rash.

She's currently using calamine lotion and sitting outside in the freezing temps as the cool air eases it a little. Everything I've suggested she's tried to no avail but I know very little about the condition.

Does anyone have any tips on anything I could suggest for her? She's finding night times particularly hard and is exhausted from lack of sleep Sad

One of my friends had this and spent most of her time in the bath (perhaps with bicarb of soda in it?)

Hope she's ok for the next week.
