I'm 33 weeks pregnant and started getting pains at night, it is a combination of lower back ache and bump ache like period pain, it comes in waves and it eases if I lie on my left hand side, however the next day I feel like I've been beaten up - so sore! Is this braxton hicks? If it is does this mean I'm likely to have a premature labour? Help!

Not sure. I would talk to your mw to get advice.

Yes - agree with salt speak to your M/Wife - best descriptioni saw that seems to fit it in my head is it feels like someone is trying to shrink wrap your womb - and so it pulls really tight for about 10-20 secs and then releases again.

But if it is Braxton Hicks, then no - not a sign of premature labour necessary - as BH come from about 34 weeks or so.

I would 3rd speaking to your midwife, BH shouldn't feel painful, uncomfortable yes. Could you be suffering from pelvic girdle pain? This makes my back and hips really sore during the night and it sometimes feels like period pain until I roll over.

Cupcakes- BH come from the beginning of pregnancy but you are just more aware of them when you are in the later stages as your womb is stretched tight anyway.
