As above, really. At the moment I have elected to have my first baby (due in July) at the Midwife-led unit at the Royal Berks hospital in Reading, and wondered whether any of you have had experience of it?

thanks

hiya. not sure about the midwifery unit but the main maternity ward etc is fine. very busy but very well organised and quite friendly. also good at dealing with complications quickly but hopefully you wont be in need of that! good luck!

I'd love to hear others experience of this hospital. Bern having my scan appointments here, but don't like the fact they don't do tours any more. I'm looking into other options, but if my first choice is booked put or I'm deemed too high risk, I'll be at the Berks. It would be nice to know what to expect.

I am due to have my first baby at Royal Berks in May. I have had a few problems in this pregnancy so far and my experiences with them has been excellent so far. I bled after a fall and they were so concerned, friendly and very efficient. I have heard it can be very busy and was worried at first but I am now pleased with my choice. When I first fell I was closer to frimley a&e and they just poked at me, refused to let me see anyone, said it was fine when it wasn't so I'm happy with my choice!

They apparently don't allow tours any more but they have given me a DVD with a video tour on it which is worth a look.
