Tummy bug in preg

Hi
My lo has a vomiting bug and I am feeling awful too- no vomiting but tummy upset, can't eat anything and no energy whatsoever. Is this ok in pregnancy? Will it affect fetus? Am 10 weeks.

Thanks

No, not eating is ok as long as you're drinking plently of fluids. I had something similar to this, suspected flu and was completely off my food. Midwife and doc said not eating will not harm baby. Although, if you can stomach anything, even dry crackers or a dry piece of toast that's better than nothing...but don't worry about it and get well soon!Smile

I had gastroenteritis at about 9 weeks when I was pregnant with DS. The doctor's only concern was that I was getting enough fluid. If you start vomiting, go and see your GP and they can assess how much fluid you've lost.

Same here, I had a 24-hour vomiting bug when pg with DD at 10 weeks. Called NHS Direct and they said not to worry about the baby, as it's your body that bears the brunt of things and protects the baby. Agree with what others have said about going to GP or all NHS Direct if you lose too much fluid.

Take it easy and get well soon x

I'm in your situation, also 10 weeks, and have D&V, well, had V yesterday and sat, and D today. I spoke to NHS direct and saw out of hours GP yesterday (would highly reccommend speaking to them if you're worried), but they said as long as there's still urine coming through then baby is still getting all they need, and it's just me/you who are suffering. Try not to worry, and hope you get better soon.

Yep can agree i had this at 6 weeks, baby now a healthy toddler! Only thing i would say is it took me a while to get over it, sickness stopped but i was washed out for a while.

I had 2 different tummy bugs in 2 pregnancies. Both babies fine

Thanks everyone for the reassurance!
