Cramps and stabbing pains - am I over-reacting?

Hi all - been around for a while but recently namechanged as my last name was boring! First post on pregnancy though :)

So I'm 20+1 today, last Wed evening started having period-like cramps, but put this down to things shifting around in there and stretching etc. By Thursday they had progressed to being more regular and I was also getting stabbing pains in my bum and hoo-hah Shock phoned midwife who said to go to day unit for assessment, took bp, temp etc and listened to baby's HB, all fine. Sent me home with orders to rest and take paracetamol - to come back if pain got worse or any bleeding.

Things is, the pains have continued, wouldn't say they're worse but certainly not better...paracetamol not touching it and I'm struggling to sleep I'm so uncomfortable.

DP wants me to call midwife again/go back to day unit, but I can't see what good it would do, surely they'll just send me away again??

Has anyone else had these sort of pains? I worry that I'm over-reacting, we suffered a miscarriage earlier in 2010 and think I'm over analysing everything now Confused feel a bit daft really when I get all worked up and there's nothing wrong! Sorry for the longish post :)

I agree with your DH. You can't really over analyse being in pain m'dear :)

I would definitely go to the day unit for assessment as they can monitor you and baby.

Hope all is well x

Definitely go back - it may be a UTI or something like that. Try not to worry...good luck x

Thanks ladies - like I said I just feel sometimes that I'm overreacting because of the miscarriage and end up wasting people's time Blush This poor baby is constantly getting prodded and poked, I've had 6 scans already!

I'll give them a ring in the morning, the hospital isn't far from my work so I'll see if I can go up at lunchtime, thanks again x

Went to day unit today and coincindentally caught the consultant on his rounds. Turns out I don't have a UTI but a swollen bladder (nice!) so got antibiotics and dihydrocodeine for a week. I'm to go back if gets worse or doesn't improve after a week but shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Feel lots better :) Thanks both xx
