Negative PT but am late.

My period was due between Wednesday and Saturday (23 - 26 day cycle) and is late. I did a Lloyds chemist PT today and it is negative.

I feel very pre-menstrual (sore boobs and crampy tummy) and can only assume that period will arrive soon.

Shall I wait until am 14 days past when I had unprotected sex last if my period doesn't show before testing again? However it would be very unlikely as that would be quite some time after ovulation.

Hmmmmm...curiouser and curiouser....

Ooooh another will it wont it :)

Would you like to be pregnant - I need to know what I'm hoping for Grin

As for testing again - I'm no help, I'd probably be avoiding it if I didn't want to be and testing hourly if I did!!!

SaggyHairyArse · 16/01/2011 16:25

Well, it wouldn't be planned but, yes, I would be pleased despite the bad timing! I was disappointed the test was negative Blush

The only problem is that I am fairly recently separated from my husband however have known BF for years. If was planning it would wait a year or two as have other children but then again am not getting any younger....

I didnt get my positive until a week after I was due so maybe give it some time and its sobs law rules for me so when I stopped thinking about it and just waitied for my period it was a positive!

I hope you get the result you want as the no mans land in the middle is not fun.

ChippingIn · 16/01/2011 16:35

How do you think BF will take it?

How old are the other kids?

How have they taken the separation?

How old are you?

Anyway, feel free not to answer any of those as it's not what you came here to talk about !! LOL

As for testing - I don't know, there are so many different ones and suggestions on here for timing of testing. But I would have thought that one of those ones you can use before you are due would tell you. But we do hear plenty of stories where the first test was negative and turns into a DD/DS :)

SaggyHairyArse · 16/01/2011 16:43

BF will take it well (we lot a baby together 14 years ago).

9, 6 and 3.

Very well. No behavioural issues, been brilliant and like new man very much.

I am 37 but when spoke to Dr about contraception and that BF and I would plan a baby at some point she said given history to get on with it!

S'all right, i'm an open book, me :)

The test did say could be used 4 days before but the reliability about 40% 4 days before, increasing to 99% on day due.

Well then - how many tests do you have Grin

I think that even if you aren't pregnant now, it sounds like you'd be best 'going for it' and not leaving it a year, BF would be happy, you would be happy the kids are happy... why not :) Better now than never! (money = pah!!)

SaggyHairyArse · 16/01/2011 16:48

LOL!

No more tests, meant to buy a two pack but picked up the wrong pack Hmm

Oh, and we have been using condoms but have had a number of failures Blush

I was once a week late and was not pregnant. My cycle was just a bit off. I think GP will do a blood test if you are 7 days late so why not do a HPT then, and go to GP if negative?

SaggyHairyArse · 16/01/2011 18:00

I thYes, I think I will falling, that's a good plan, cheers :)

ChippingIn · 16/01/2011 18:14

Even better - either way you can give the condoms a wide berth - win win really isn't it :)

SaggyHairyArse · 16/01/2011 18:20

Rubbers are rubbish that's for sure!

I had 2 -ve results on day due and 4 days late. Then didn't repeat test till next period was late when I was actually 8 weeks (ish). Assumed missed period was due to stress but now I am 20 weeks pregnant! Depends how patient you are feeling how long you can wait to test again.

SaggyHairyArse · 16/01/2011 20:25

My Mums coming Tuesday afternoon so assuming no show before then, then I will test in the morning and, again if no show before she leaves, will test after she has gone on Sunday. And if no show after that then will see the Dr!

Don't want my Mum suspecting anything as she is a nosy old trout and does my head in (but that's another thread!).

I got a negative result 5 days after af was due and I'm now 21 weeks pregnant with twins!

SaggyHairyArse · 16/01/2011 21:58

Oh bloody hell Snowfalls! That is quite shocking as you would expect HCG levels to be high with twins. How lovely, I bet that was a shock?!!?!?!

Another day, another no show, another -HPT....

IAmReallyFabNow · 17/01/2011 20:40

Quite often a multiple pregnancy can give a false negative.

SaggyHairyArse · 17/01/2011 20:43
Shock

Why is that??????????????????????????

OP posts:
IAmReallyFabNow · 17/01/2011 21:00

Something to do with hormone levels.

SaggyHairyArse · 17/01/2011 21:35

LOL :o

IAmReallyFabNow · 18/01/2011 12:12
Grin

What I meant was with multiple pregnancies the levels are different and the HPT are geared up for singleton baby hormone levels.

idobelieveinfairies · 18/01/2011 14:16

I had a false negative with my second set of twins a week after period was due, got a positive a week after that. Grin

With my first set i was on the pill and got caught, positive result was their straight away.

Good luck saggy!

Greenfairybump · 18/01/2011 15:41

I did 3 tests in the space of 2 weeks after the day I was due on and they were all negative but I had not 'come on'.
I then did a clear blue test which showed I was pregnant. I would recommend them as they can detect pregnancy before your due on date.
I will never believe a negative test again!!!

SaggyHairyArse · 18/01/2011 15:58

Another day, another no show and yet another -HPT!!!

I am now 6 days late but only on day 30. I thought I would wait and make an appt to see my GP next Monday which would make me a week late on a 28 day cycle and 12 days late for me.

All very intriguing!

SaggyHairyArse · 19/01/2011 14:54

Another day, another no show but no HPT as can't afford to buy another one!!!!

This is getting boring...
