What were the white blobs?

I had my 21 week scan a couple of weeks ago and we didn't ask the baby's sex, but dh reckons he saw 2 white blobs on the between the legs shot. Do you reckon these were testicles? Or maybe he wasn't looking in quite the right place and saw ovaries? Can you see ovaries on a scan? Almost wishing we'd just asked now as I'm bursting with curiousity...

Hmm, labia can also look like two white blobs..

Don't think you can see ovaries, though.

I would hate to hazard a guess, and think you will drive yourself crazy if you try to interpret this. Sorry

i don't meant to be rude but ur dh isn't trained as a sonographer (or is he?) so could have been anything..part of a bone, a knee...girls bits look like a hamburger apparently but so can testicles if the baby is laying in the right position

MM - You can still recognise the sex of the baby whether you are a qualified sonographer or not!!!!

I quite clearly saw ds's wee balls, but that was at 32wks.

Looks like I'll just have to wait it out then..., you're right hester I will go mad if I keep thinking about it. MM, dh was the first person to admit that he could've been looking at anything and that I shouldn't read anything into it!

I'm not sure you can see testes that early - I don't think they descend until a couple of weeks before birth (my ds1 had one completely missing/re-absorbed) so could be confused with ovaries. With a girl they look for the hamburger sign - 3 distinct white lines, maybe you saw two of those? TRy searching on google for baby sex scan and you will probably find some piccys.

Sounds like a female baby to me. We had close up scans for both our boy and girl and she showed us the two white blobs your on about. It was the girl.

Be careful - we were both absolutely certain that we had seen a pair of testicles with a rather longer bit between them. Must have been the hamburger - or even a loop of umbilical cord.

Thanks for your opinions and the benefit of your experience!I must admit I had sort of started coming to the girl conclusion...before I was convinced it was a boy which I was really happy about, but at least now I can start re-adjusting...Will let you know early Feb!!!
