16 weeks and pain in groin when unloading the dishwasher

I'm hoping that I'm panicking about nothing but a couple of hours ago I was unloading the dish washer - sort of squatting with my legs open (digified - not!) and I had a severe pain shoot up my groin. It really took my breath away and I had to sit down for a good while. I now feel absolutely fine but although the pain was too low to be the baby, I'm panicking that it means something's wrong.
I've got used to all my niggles and pains from early preganacy to now but this was totally different.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any idea what it might be? I really didn't think tackling the dishwasher was a dodgy activity, especially relatively early on in pregnancy...

I have had moments shooting pain and it can be worrying as I thought cervix was opening. However, it was probably just ligaments stretching. I am 31 weeks and still get the odd shooting pain.

SPD?? Keep your legs together and limit walking stairs. Google and see if that's it.

Poor you, get better soon.

I had SPD last pregnancy and got very worried yesterday as I had a similar thing to you, and was dreading the SPD returning this time. Today I've been fine, so keeping my fingers crossed, but it's worth looking at exercises you can do to limit any pelvic pain.

I'm 22 weeks pregnant and I get shooting pains every now and then in the nether regions and around the belly button. I know what you mean- it's painful and worrying. Try searching the threads on MN- I found that very reassuring. It's something lots of women get so rest up and take it easy :)

I have SPD/PGP/whatever it's meant to be called, and squatting is a definate no-no for me. I feel it as a sharp hot pain, but I think everyone feels it differently.

Thanks everyone - tonight I've felt a bit achy in my pelvic area generally but am feeling fine apart from that.
Teasie, I've followed your advice and been a bit more creative with my searches on MN - even found someone else who unloads the dishwasher in the same style as me (and got the same pain!)
It's really reassuring that these pains are fairly common, if not desirable.
Thanks for taking the time to reassure me and good luck everyone for the next weeks and months ahead! :)

Unloading the dishwasher is a man's job!Wink

BumbleBean · 17/01/2011 12:41

Too right, chipmonkey! I think I may come up with a list of newly inappropriate activities for me - hopefully I can swing changing the double duvet on to the list - I HATE it!

i had the same problem but the doc said it's normal to get them in the groin. i was always getting pains then i sneezed or coughed too.

You CANNOT change a duvet cover when pregnant. Should you do so your baby will shoot out because of ummm quantum. Grin
