I'm 36 weeks pregnant and was just getting over having one bad cold after another when I developed pleurisy! The doctor prescribed antibiotics but said if it's viral then there is nothing he can give me.
I'm really struggling to find any energy and since this is my first baby I'm wondering if this total lack of get up and go is normal for 36 weeks or its the pleurisy holding me back! Does anyone have any advice or remedies to help me please. I just hope it clears up before I give birth!!!!

Rest, rest, rest some more.

You should start to feel a bit better by day 10.

Good luck :)

Oh and normal to feel like shit in late pregnancy.

Thanks ...whomovedmychocolate... It's just reassuring to hear it's normal to feel like I've been run over by a bus!! xx

I spent my last month of the last pregnancy lying down in hospitals without the energy to do anything except complain about the food!

Oh god! You poor sod!! Hope everything was ok in the end! I'm just bored of waiting now, feels like I've been pregnant for ever! Xx

Oh yes fine. Had pre eclampsia with both and various interesting complications, but both came out fully cooked and well. Don't worry the last bit is a bit of a slog but in some ways it makes it easier when your baby does arrive because at least you aren't pregnant anymore. Grin

I had pleurisy at 34 weeks - the antibiotics cleared it up (felt hugely better within a couple of days). It does really hit you though - I went from running 4 miles on the Thurs to getting breathless going upstairs by the Saturday. Resorted to lying on the floor and letting my toddler climb on me as I lay on the floor as was too knackered to play! Hope you feel better soon.

hello,
i'm not that far gone, between 8-13 weeks.
so cant take anything for anything LOL
and i went to the hospital twice last week in agony and i'm still in quite alot of pain.
a doctor said as a passing comment it could be an inflamed lung or a blood clot,he told me to take paracetamol then they sent me home... i'm only 18 so at this point i was thinking omg! what about my baby what's an inflamed lung ect, so i took paracetamol and it was doing nothing- so i went backto the hospital and a doctor mentioned an ectopic pregnancy which at tht moment in time i had no idea what it was but again he just said take paracetamol and sent me on my way. after getting no information ive taken it upon myself to look on the internet, and it scares me that 2 doctors have told me i could have such serious things wrong with me and have just sent me home to take some paracetamol, and now i'm just scared cause i know nothing about whats going on.and to op it off this is my 1st pregnancy. help or advise mabey some reassuring words please?
thank you for reading.

Hi Katey,

Sounds like you have had some very insensitive treatment at the hands of your doctors...no wondernyou are worried.

Firstnof all, I think you need to find out why they are talking about ectopic pregnancies when you have a problem with your lung! I would recommend that you go back to a and e or the early pregnancy assessment unit. Write down your symptoms and a list of any questions you have have, as it's hard to remember everything you need to ask when you are there, especially if you thing you are being hurried along.

Make sure you have every question ticked off and answered before you leave.

If a doctor genuinely expected you might have an ectopic pregnancy, they would not have let you leave until the facts were confirmed, as they would need to deal with it immediately. I think this is the first thing you need to establish, and move on from there.

Good luck!

thanks ChoChoSan

my boyfriend has just left worktotakemeto a+e
because i've just been sick a thick bright yellow bile, it was like egg yolk. and i'mgoing to go to a different hospital and fingers crossed i'll get some answers today.

i think more than anything i'm scared because i haven't been told what to do or if i can do anything at all, i think i will write down any questions i have because when your sat in pain in a waiting room for hours then just thrown in a room with a doctor talking faster than you can breathe and poking at you you lose your nerve abit, thanks again
