Pineapple- safe during 2nd trimester?

Hi

I know that this question probably sounds neurotic and stupid, but I'll ask it anyway...Is it safe to eat fresh pineapple at 24 weeks? I bought one the other day, and have been having some every night with natural yogurt.

I know the myth of pineapple inducing labour, but there is no medical evidence to suggest that it's unsafe to eat before your due date is there??!!

My mum wnt let me eat pineapple! Although i dnt believe it can do any harm, i still avoid it -dnt want to tempt fate. Mum and some other mums i knw say it can be damaging especially in first trimester.

No, go ahead eat your pineapple. I have been, yum! From what I've heard you'd have to eat more pineapple than you could stomach for it to have any effect, and even then it has to be the middle bit. Don't know about you, but I cut that out - yuk!

Mmmm, I have one sat on the work surface and am a bit peckish...3.30 pineapple nibble!? Hmm.

I'm 34 weeks btw

Apparently you'd need to eat 50 pineapples in a sitting in order to injest enough of the chemical to have any effect. Go for it! A lovely healthy snack for you and bub.

I craved pineapple all through my first trimester. I ate loads of it. I would buy a pot of prepared pineapple on my way to work and another one on my way home. I'm now 29 weeks and suffered no ill effects.
