Pain above belly button.

Hi,
I am 22 weeks pregnant and have had a strange pain since about 6pm tonight. It starts just above my belly button, stays for a short time then moves down my bump and stops right at the bottom. The only way I can describe it is like when you pull a plaster/waxing strip off quickly, it is happening every few minutes and is sometimes painful enough to take my breath away but sometimes much less painful.
Any ideas what this could be? I tried to ring my midwife yesterday to get an appointment for Friday (the only day she works) but she is fully booked for the next 3 weeks and I haven't got an appointment with her until the beginning of Feb and I am too scared of consulting Dr Google because I will only find horror stories and convince myself it is something serious when it probably isn't.

Thanks.

I didn't experience this but I think I read on here that pain near the belly button can be baby pulling on the cord.
I could be wrong and I'm sure someone else will come along who knows for sure.... Maybe try searching old threads if you've not already...I'm sure I read it on here.

Is there any chance that it's some sort of round ligament pain?

If you're worried could you phone the midwife for a chat? Don't suffer in silence - you will only be worrying yourself and that won't do you any good!

Is it down the midline of your stomach? I had something similar last time and I'm pretty sure it was my abs splitting. It was kind of a stingy pain in the muscles below the skin.

I will try and ring the midwife tomorrow, am working though so will only be able to ring at lunchtime when I probably wont be able to get hold of her, will maybe ring antenatal department at the hospital if I cant get through.
push, no it isn't down the middle, it is like a band all the way across my stomach, slightly worse on the left side.
Have been to bed but can't sleep, will have to try again soon though or i will be useless at work tomorrow.

How are you this morning Ican?

I rang and spoke to the midwife who didn't seem too concerned, just said to keep an eye on things and ring the hospital if it continued or got worse. Seems to have eased off now though. Thanks for asking Smile

I used to get shooting pains with my first pregnancy from my belly button right down to my bits! Mine was just muscle and nerve pain as I was getting bigger. My belly button was very sensitive and if ever I touched it, it would send those tingly pains down to my pee pee hole. Even now after pregnancy I can get a slight same feeling! Don't worry yourself over it! You can do more harm worrying than the problem itself!
