I bought a couple of up to 1 month sleepsuits/vests for DD and even though she was only 6lb 14 at birth, they lasted less than 1 month. Would definitely advise up to 3 months for new baby, you're wasting money otherwise.

depends on size of baby very much as can be anything between 5lb and 10lb for a newborn! very hard to say but smallest i've bought in past from next was the upto 1month and lasted a few weeks on my 7lb-8lb babies.

look at the weights on them

when ds1 was born he had some newborn stuff from next, which was labelled up to 10lb i think.
he was 9lb 1 and still used them for a few weeks, and I liked having stuff that was the right size rather than having to fold sleeves up and stuff

but I think the weights have changed because last time i picked up a "newborn" size item it was only up to 7lb something.

so... depends how big your baby is likely to be! :)

I would get the 0-3month clothing with perhaps 2 baby-gros in the newborn size. Within a few weeks they do fill out the 0-3 months.

Next sizes come up quite small too. Compared with M&S, Asda, Tesco and Matalan.

I used to buy a few sleepsuits from Next when DS was starting to outgrow a size.

I find NEXT to be on the larger side... Have I got shrimpy kids? But I haven't bought from some of the shops you mention...

Ds was7lb11 at birth and the up to one month were fine, a bit big but not drowning. He has outgrown them this week - he's now 6 weeks
