'Head very low' 34 weeks

Just back from my 34 week check-up with my GP. She commented on how 'very' low my baby's head is. I asked her what this meant and she just wouldn't give me an answer just variations on 'probably nothing'. Throughout measuring me and feeling the baby's position, she repeatedly asked me if my scans had been normal and when I affirmed that they had (including one at 30 weeks after a bleed), she raised her eyebrows and said 'mmm'...!

As I say I couldn't get a straight answer from her and don't really want to call my MW(s) given there is nothing actually wrong, I thought I'd ask for some MN wisdom!

Any ideas what the 'mmms' and scan questions may mean? And indeed what the implication of the baby's head being 'very low' is...do I need to pack my hospital bag?

Thanks!

I was told that DS1 head had engaged at my 33 week check. Panicked that this meant birth was imminent. He was 5 dys overdue!

Get your bag ready but don't worry yet!

Annoying GP. Not sure how measurement is related to being engaged. I would call MW and ask.

I read that babies can be engaged for a few weeks before birth. Have your bag ready though!

With me all three DC's were very low early on and all my fundal (sp?) measurements came out lower than my dates. I kept having mw's freaking me out about early deliveries and small babies....in the end all three were overdue and were between 8.5 and 9.5 pounds (so not small at all then!!)

I would guess the questions about the scan were to do with the babies size...I had several extra scans because the fundal measurements were so low...

Basically when the baby engages (and sinks lower into the pelvis) the fundal measurement goes down....not sure if I explained myself clearly!

Thanks everyone. I have an MW appointment at the end of next weeks, so unless anything dramatic happens I will just speak to her then.
