Hi There,

This is my second pregnancy and I am all of sudden feeling really uncomfy! I am still at work but finish this week.
When I walk there is SO much pressure bearing down, almost like I can definitely feel the weight of baby's head pushing down. I don't remember this from before.
I feel a bit light headed some times too.
I have been having braxton hicks/period type pains but am concerned at the pain when walking. I feel like I am hobbling along like an old woman!
I am also v anxious about the birth as I was 2 weeks overdue with ds1 so was induced and eventually had emergency CS with GA. I am wondering if these are signs this baby will be earlier.
Any advice/reassurance would be greatly appreciated!!!

sounds like the baby's head has engaged ie dropped into your pelvis, which happens in the latter stages of pregnancy.
it has to happen before you give birth but does not necessarily mean that you are about to go into labour.
I am 36 weeks pregnant with DC3 and some days the baby's head is so low it is uncomfortable to walk or bend forward, other days it has "bobbed up" again and I feel a lot more mobile.

Thanks pinkelephant. Have just had a general look on internet and I think you're right! I was scared it meant it was going to happen overnight or something!

yeah I'm feeling the same way 38+1 and just this week I'm really waddling and uncomfortable. Feel like I have SPD and just general pains when walking- also hoping I'm not overdue as a few weeks of this will be more than enough to cope with!

Am relieved its normal but hope hope it eases off for you saral77 x

with my 2nd i could hardly walk from about 37 or 38 weeks too, he wasn't early though was overdue again like my 1st. but hope yours doesn't hang on too long for you, it is quite horrible isn't it as you feel quite immobile. not looking forward to those last couple of weeks again!

Thanks ladies! Interesting Firawla that you were still overdue...

I was like this with my first from about 38 weeks - not exactly the baby's head pushing down but v uncomfortable and crampy. I also felt terrible emotionally, and had bad braxton hicks that went on for ages (5 mins or so). I had started mat leave, so just sat at home watching DVDs and crying Blush. Seems odd looking back on it! I was 10 days overdue as well, so it went on for ever Sad. Sorry, this won't really cheer you up, but it will all be over soon! Best of luck!

I'm the same - saw the consultant yesterday and she just said it's the weight of the baby putting pressure on my pelvis - hasn't even engaged yet!

Now that the consultant says it's nothing to worry about, DH is feeling free to giggle at me waddling round like an old lady - hmph!

Blimey! Smile thanks again ladies! x
