Baby show - good place to get stuff?

Hello ladies,
I wondered if anyone had any experience of the Baby Show and whether it was a good place to get baby stuff cheap/discounted? This is my first baby and we have absolutely nothing and we don't really know anyone who has had children already who may be planning to give us stuff, so we are going to need to source pretty much everything. In particular I am thinking about big ticket items e.g. cot, pram/pushchair etc.

I'll be 21 weeks at the time of the London show so would (should) have the opportunity to shop at the Easter sales in the shops and of course there is the internet - anyone got any experience or ideas about where I am going to get the best value? Do the exhibitors at the show offer really good discounts? Or is it just somewhere to go and try things out to then go and find cheaper elsewhere? Or is it smaller type bits and bobs?

The discounts aren't usually that terrific unless you're really lucky, BUT - it's a great chance to try stuff out and talk to people about their products. Nowhere else can you get practically every product on the market in one place.

Most of all I like it for just browsing - seeing things I wouldn't have thought of on my own that look like they might be good, then doing some research on them later.

If you like collecting freebie tat then it's fun as well!

Currently debating whether to go or not myself as this is DC3 and we have everything (and more besides!) but I just love looking at all the baby stuff anyway :)

I agree with sparklies - good for browsing. I didn't buy anything. Picked up lots of leaflets of things I might find useful. You will find large items like prams, cots, chairs, etc but alos lots of small (and mostly useless) bits and bobs.

But it is exciting to go to. I went twice and so the novelty wore off. Also, v good for information, eg. legal rights and work, cord blood banking, immunisations, etc.

Good for trying out items but probably not the best place for bargains.

Thanks ladies! Has anyone seen any discount codes for tickets? They're £12.50 each whihc I think is a bit pricey...
