Hole in Placenta

Hi I am 12weeks and I started bleeding about a week ago I went straight to the drs obviously. I went for an emergency scan and they told me I had a hole in my Placenta. Not sure what it means just wondering if any1 else has had this happen. They didnt explain things too well really and said the baby is fine but I could still have bleeds. What does it mean?

hi, sorry i cant be of much help either but it seems as they are telling you the baby is fine then at least thats some good news.
if your unsure about anything get intouch with doctor or midwife and insist they explain things beter for you.
the last thing you need right now is to be worrying.
i really hope you find some answers to your problem and im sure everything will work out for you and your baby, its amazing what they can do these days.

I think I might have had this - bit of bleeding at about 12 weeks, and they said something similar in a fairly throwaway manner (the bleeding happened immediately before I had a scan so they were looking anyway). If it was the same thing, take comfort from the fact that the baby in question will be 4 next week!

My basic rule with pregnancy was that I didn't get worried unless the doctor is worried - and mine wasn't about this.

Thanks I have spoken to Dr and they have just told me that the baby is fine. Great obviously but nothing else apart from bleeds are normal. Well I know they're not. Im scared incase I have a bleed and dont do anything about it and its something else. I dont know what to think now!!

HI....Around 12 weeks your placenta begins to move up into the womb along with the baby...at this point the placenta can detached or tear etc.........the good thing is that the placenta can mend itself and providing baby is getting enough from placenta....no problems should occur!
