I'm 19wks, is this normal? I don't remember it with either of my other pregnancies!

call the gp for an emergency app. could be high blood sugar or an infection.

Obvious question - are you dehydrated? Wee colour will indicate. Have you been eating alot of carbs or excess of protein - both will make you thirsty.

knackered76 · 10/01/2011 12:19

Oh I have been carbing it up recently! Think I might make a doctors appointment as well, just incase :)

Good idea but if nothing shows up I wouldnt worry too much about it, I've had raging thirst on and off depending on what Ive been eating...or what activity I've been doing Wink.
Oh just one other thought, and I dont know if this really has an effect but it does on me..if you are wearing manmade fibres you are probably sweating more than if you are in cottons etc...it can all make a difference

Good idea to get checked, but it isn't that uncommon. I've been thirsty on and off throughout this pregnancy (34 weeks now) and had the glucose tolerance test to check sugars, but nothing of concern showed up.

I kept being thirsty so ended up eating loads of ice lollies which helped. Yes in winter which made DH think I was nuts, but it definitely worked!

knackered76 · 10/01/2011 12:54

Ice lollies you say . . . . . might change that slightly to ice cream and I think we might be on a winner!

I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong but that annoying voice in the back of my head won't shut it :)

I was much more thirsty in 2nd tri (am now 30 wks). I did have GTT done in 1st tri, which showed borderline high sugar. Worth getting it checked out.

I did also eat a lot of mint magnums. You see they're cold, have dairy and have mint which stops you being sick. Grin

Got the doctors later this afternoon.

JandT You need to write a pregnancy food book, I will buy a copy and recommend to all my friends :)
