Early weight gain............

Just a quick mail to see if I am alone in finding myself putting on weight (and I mean fat, not baby!) really early on? Just about 7 weeks gone and becuase my appetite has increased loads, I am putting on weight at a scary rate.....

Took ages to fall og so really don't want to spend the whole time I am pregnant obsessing about my weight but it's scary all the same! Will it level off at some point???

I know the answer is to try and eat healthily when I find myself still hungry but most of the time I really can't face 'good' food. The sight of fruit is knocking me sick right now!!!!!

Tell me I am not alone?!

How much weight have you gained? Just trying to understand what exactly a "scary amount" is....

I don't actually know becuase I don't own any scales but I would guess I have gone up at least a dress size in the 7 weeks. May not sound alot but feels it.........

Am I being paranoid or is that alot so early on?

congratulations!

with ds3 i put on 2 stone in the first 8 weeks, but only 7lb over the entire rest of the pg. ds is now 16m and i havent lost the 2 stone but cant say i am very worried. it will disappear at some point.

i would recommend eating fairly healthily. too much sugar made me feel ill because my blood glucose kept crashing. you dont have to eat fruit all the time tho, sandwiches, pasta etc are good too

(congrats on the pg, not putting on the weight)

Thanks, that makes me feel loads better! Becuase I am still so early we haven't told anyone so I can't ask my freinds with kids how they went weight wise............

Had to go shopping for maternity trousers last weekend as none of my jeans or trousers fit......thought it was a bit pointless just buying the nxt size up seeing as I will grow out if them soon to - but did feel odd buying maternity wear already

Think you are right about the glucose levels crashing though, had that happen this morning so going to try and keep it fairly constant if possible.

Don't worry - especially if you haven't weighed yourself. I have actually managed to go up a dress size and lose weight in the first three months- a lot to do with growing uterus and water retention apparently. It's the first time ever I've been grateful for the scales.

I would not worry too much but try and structure your eating if you can. lots of people have weight to loose at the end and you can prepare for this. but if you think it will get you down after you have had the baby then I would say try and be a bit careful
i was already overweight pre pg with ds so was really careful during pg and was back to pre pg weight almost immediately put on 2 stone and then lost when baby born etc... but I knew that I could not cope with being fatter after the birth as I was already 2.5 stone overweight pre pg
i think if if my weight was normal pre pg I would be more relaxed and not worry if i had a bit to loose afterwards
pg now again and only managed to shift .5 of my 2.5 stones in the interim so having to be careful again
congrats on your pg
