Nesting. YUK! Housework is a swearword to me, and so far this evening I have helped DD to reorganise her bedroom (everything was shoved in boxes so DP could wallpaper her room) and I've sorted out the cleaning stuff cupboard (including actually cleaning the cupboard), and am now wondering what job to tackle next!!

This is very abnormal for me. Most Irregular. This is dc4, and I've never had 'nesting' before. I'm 38+6 btw. I wonder if this means that baby might actually GET OUT soon??!! (Have already had a show, over a week ago, and have been having irregular BH for the last week). Hmm

Grin I like your style loudlass - am sure loudbaby will be along soon - good luck!

Highlandgirl · 08/01/2011 21:54

Would you like to come round to my house loudlass...!!! Smile

PermaShattered · 08/01/2011 22:06

My 2nd child was 10 days later and I fully expected my 3rd to be late too!

When I was 37 weeks, I sorted out ALL the videos and DVDs, and the cupboards surrounding them. Something I'd been meaning to get round to for over a year.

Next day I went into labour........

Let us know! X

Although I'm not in your situation myself, my best friend who gave birth to a baby last year said shortly before going into labour she did a massive clean-up of the house. Messy things were driving her nuts and she just couldn't stop. Perhaps it's a sign!

I made cushion covers yesterday, complete with zip!! >>bows gracefully for the amazing feat

ledkr · 09/01/2011 08:18

i have been nesting furiously for ages but i am a bit ocd re the house,im just worse.I prefer nesting by proxy which for me involves giving dh a list and then reminding him that playing on the pc\ps3 were not on the list.Yesterday he got up and di loads tho i think he may have been man nesting.Im 37wks.

LDNlady · 09/01/2011 09:02

I can only hope that the nesting thing kicks in for me at some point! If it doesn't, baby will be sleeping in the cat bed!! :-/

CardyMow · 09/01/2011 09:41

I've never had this before. I have scrubbed the hell out of the downstairs bathroom, am planning on hanging all my enormous pile of clean clothes up in the cupboards, and hoovering the whole house. Very abnormal for me, my housework mantra is to do as little as will possibly keep the house hygenic. Organisation is usually way down my list after playing with the dc and MN'ing! Am hoping it holds off for long enough for my house to be really tidy - it'd be a first. Grin.

Loudlass You sound like a girl after my own heart! When not nesting that is!! Wink

Oneof4 · 09/01/2011 10:18

I read in the paper yesterday that - apparently - children who grow up in chaos (i.e. mess) are less well behaved than those who grow up in tidy households. Weird link perhaps?!

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 09/01/2011 11:22

Oneof4 surely the link is the lifestyle/attitude of the parents rather than the actual mess side of things? That's spoken from somebody whose house is quite cluttered, (but not dirty I hope!) and whose children are quite mischievous (but not evil I hope). My attitude to both is lax where I don't feel it necessary and a definite "pick your battles" approach to both house cleaning and behaviour...

CardyMow · 09/01/2011 13:28

While housework is not the most pressing thing on my to-do list normally, I wouldn't say that my dc are less well bahaved than those that live in show-homes. I'm actually the 'organised' mum that everyone texts/ rings to find out when it's dressing up day/ non-pupil day/ school trips etc. I'm very punctual too, just not a fan of unecessary housework. Blush. Am now off to scrub my kitchen floor. Hmm
