Anyone give themselves a home sweep?

And did it work? I've had a fiddle down there but don't seem to be hitting anything. Could you reach easily?

I don't seem to be reaching anything, maybe my cervix isn't ready? Or maybe I just have a cavernous fanny

I would say to be very careful, you don't want to give yourself an infection.

Can't find cervix anymore, unless it is very very soft. Last pregnancy baby's head had sort of pushed it towards the back, and it was VERY painful when mw had to twist it back down again so she could measure dilation etc. Yuck. I don't want it to happen again, but I fear it has.

Vigourous squatting is good to kick start labour by the way, if sweep not working.

Squatting you say?? Surely you jest.

Could I squat.. not sure about that. Reckon I'd get stuck that way and fall backwards

I know, but needs must and it is worth a try! Got things going for me first time, something to do with pressure of babies head, just broke waters. (put towel down just in case!)
Legs wide, lower gently, then push knees back a bit, sitting like African tribeswoman, or rock slightly like mad person. Or try home sweep at same time. Although I conceed that you might need to lean on something for this.

I definitely won't - the risk of infection is too high. You're better off using acupressure or sex to start labour off.

Dear mother and father universe, and all the perfect powers of love and life that be, AKA God, IMO.
Be with theevildead2 and her little one soon to be born. Send them strength and peace and surround them with love as they soon begin the next part of their journey together.
And help her get up again from the squatting!

I personally would not try this - can't the midwife do one for you? Doing it yourself seems risky.

I meant pray that I would be able to get up again! but if father and mother universe see fit to get this baby out today I would be very appriciative!

littlemiss sex isn't doing the trick..

Electra won't see the midwife till friday at earliest.

i can't reach my cervix at the moment - am nearly 38 weeks. with ds2 i could reach it about a week before he arrived and think i did try a bit of a stretch in the last few days. i had a v.thorough stretch and sweep with ds1 as my waters broke and don't think there's any point trying myself when i remember that experience - contractions started about 1 1/2hrs later and were v.full on and intense. 2nd labour was much easier to deal with as it started on it's own.

if you can't reach yours maybe baby needs a bit longer to cook? when's baby due/overdue?

Baby is due thursday, but mamma is due now if you get my drift. I have gained like 5 or 6 stone and I can barely move. Me and dh were both just under 9 pounds each and I have a feeling that this will be a biiiig baby (probably bigger than we were) and want it out before it becomes a HUGE baby!

am feeling like i'm going to have a massive baby too - last 2 were 8lb 13 and 8lb. ds2 was smaller than ds1 though and they were both on time. am happy for mine to stay put as long as possible though - 3 under 3's is going to be hard work so am in no hurry!
