Moses Basket or Crib

I shall be kitting out the nursery but will have fairly limited room in my own bedroom for LO to sleep for the first couple of months.

I would quite like a moses basket so that LO can sleep wherever in the house if necessary, however is a moses basket OK for it to sleep in over night next to my bed (on a stand) or shall I invest in a crib too?

Sorry for a rather garbled question......

i would say that a moses basket would be fine can see why not. i borrowed a mb to keep downstairs and also borrowed a crib for upstairs and i must admit i preferred the crib but only because i had a huge baby who was just short of 10lb and was out of the mb within 5 weeks as she kept hitting off the sides and this woke her up. i didnt realise that mb come in different sizes and i think i was given a smaller one. i think m&p and mothercare do the bigger ones. i know with your first baby you want all new but honestly check out ebay and your local nct sales and i also love netmums local nearly new as people only use the stuff for such a short time its often immaculate and you can get a great bargain second hand.
good luck x

Great thanks for the tip of netmums, not heard of that one before and they have good for sale boards. Thanks again.

I had both, a moses basket only lasts approx 6 wk where as a crib is up tp 6 months.

I will be having both again thi time Smile

I had a family moses basket for my DC's (originally used for my younger brother, then various cousins & then their kids).

It must have been quite a large one as it lasted up to 3 months - after which they went into a cot.

I've opted for a crib because I think I'll get more use out of ity as baby can stay in it for much longer. Baby can sleep in their pram or rocker chair in the day time.
