sleeping on front

I'm 28 weeks pregnant and worryig about damaging my baby by rolling on to my front while sleeping.

I'm trying to follow the guidelines by sleeping on my sides and have been using pillows to prop up my hips and bump. Almost every night though I find I'm waking up on my front, perhaps not flat on my stomach but kind of on one side with alot of weight on my bump.

I'm worried that I am squashing my baby! This isn't painful but sometimes I do get a slight ache on one side when I wake up.

Any other tummy sleepers out there? Or any advice or reassurance?

Thanks x

Don't worry so you won't be able to sleep at all on your front as bump with be in the way! You're not hurting the baby, just make sure your comfy and full supported.

I'm 33 weeks and sometimes wake very much rolled over...baby gives me a kick boot a few hundred times and I turn over.

If it helps put a pillow behind you back too.

Ooh I'm glad to hear that as I've been doing the same thing - starting on my side and waking up further round (25wks). I can't sleep straight on my stomach but, like you, end up with quite a lot of weight on the side of my bump and it can hurt when I wake up. I've been feeling nervous until I feel it kicking in case I've killed it! It's only now I've typed that sentence I realise what a wally I am ...

The best advice on sleeping I read, though, said that whilst you should try to follow the advice on sleeping positions, it is far more important for your baby's health that you GET SLEEP so really, just do what works and don't stress too much. Now to follow the advice...

Lowra I am 27 weeks pregnant and no matter how hard I try I always wake up on my side/front! I slept on my front before I was pregnant and I think I just naturally roll onto my front in my sleep. My MW said not to worry too much as soon I will be too big to roll onto my front.

You are supposed to lie on your left side but I always end up on my right more often because, as 'my side' of the bed is the left, it means my face is near the edge of the bed and I feel cooler and more comfortable for some reason.

I used to wake up not quite on my front but as far as my bump would allow me IYKWIM?

This would result in a lopsided bump for the first few minutes of getting up!

As soon as baby was born I slept on my front again, it wad bliss!

I can't stay on one side anyway, I get too achy..and I can't sleep on my back so I end up half on front, half side, but then like op says, I worry I am squashing it, esp as I am overweight anyway. Makes him kick lol.

Ah glad it's not just me. Thanks for the re-assurance. I'm sure all our babies are just fine!
