Am I about to MC? Hope/advice needed

Sorry in advance for my essay, i just feel like giving up hope :( i have also posted in MC. I had a MMC last October, and had a ERPC on 15th

I waited for one AF before starting ttc again. On CD 27/28 I got period-like pains but no AF, my UCL being 35. I got a BFP on CD38 with a CB Digi saying 1-2 weeks. On Sunday I went to the loo and got red blood when I wiped, that was the only time and since then have had very occasional brown when I wipe.

I had a scan yesterday, when I was 6+5 by LMP but all that could be seen was something measuring 5 weeks, no heartbeat etc. They did one blood test which came back 2740, and I have another tomorrow to see if it rises.

I haven't had any symptoms except big/ tender/heavy boobs. I did have wind/bloating until recently but that has gone. Having said that I'm in bed ill and I've heard that can mask pg symptoms?!

After last time I just don't want to get my hopes up if there's no chance. Has anyone had similar experience? Or can offer any advice?

I almost wish I'd ignored the blood as I'd be waiting for my 8 week scan none the wiser :(

Hi, I don't know that I have any useful advice but didn't want you to sit worrying without an answer. You haven't given the dates of your LMP or your BFP but if you have a UCL of 35 that suggests you ovulate on around CD21, a week later than a "normal" cycle so dates based on your LMP would be a week further than you actually are, making you around 5+5 not 6+5 and at 5+5 a heartbeat wouldn't be visible. I had an early scan and they saw nothing at all, was terrified and had to have HCG levels tested over a week as they were rising but not doubling. Turned out that dates were a bit out and HCG levels just didn't do what the textbook says they should I'm now 12+6 and fingers crossed everything's still ok.

Hope everything goes well for you and your HCG levels are up to 5000 tomorrow. Good luck.

I bled lots of brown and the Dr was convinced Id miscarry sent me for an early scan ......turned out I was much further on than they thought.

Ds3 is 10 now Grin.
And the browm blood stuff was just cast aside?.

Hi OrangeGloss,

Sounds like a very difficult time. I am in a slightly similar situation but a bit further on with a second scan showing hardly any increase in sac size and a second hcg that didn't double.

From all the reading that I've done whilst waiting for second scan (3rd scan is in two days to determine whether there has been further growth), there seems to be anecdotal evidence that will fit both a positive and negative outcome.

Looking at your symptoms - lots of women have bleeding that can result in normal pregnancy but also bleeding can mean miscarriage. The HCG levels seems good but it's the second one that will give you more of an indication as it needs to increase. Although they like it to double, from reading on the internet a decent increase that hasn't doubled could still result in a good outcome.

Re the scan - lots of women think they're further one that they are and this too can result in a normal outcome. What's important is the progression.

It's excruciatingly difficult to wait for a week between scans not knowing what will happen and I've scoured the internet again and again to look for something positive.

At your stage though, not all is lost and it is certainly worthwhile keeping hopeful.

I'm not being very clear here, I guess all I want to say is that I know what you're going through. I don't know what the outcome of your pregnancy will be, noone does and noone can tell at this stage which is why you have to wait for for further blood test and a scan in approx a week to monitor progression. I just want to let you know that you're not alone and to wish you all the very best.

Thanks for everyone's kind words. My LMP was 17th Nov and my pre-MC cycle length was 35. I got my BFP Xmas exe. They weren't too bothered by the bleed as it was just one wipe of red.
Highheelsansequations thank you for the advice and positive story. I hope you have a nice and boring 6 months :)
Stellamac I hope your scan goes ok, please let me know if you have a spare minute, I would love to know

Hi Orange I meant to find this thread the other day then forgot - I just wanted to tell you that I had spotting for the whole of week 5. And my symptoms have been extremely random and some days I don't have any at all!

Hope the blood tests go well today.

OrangeGloss · 05/01/2011 13:15

Thanks Owl I really want to be out of my misery now, have spent the last 10 mins bawling to poor DH at work :(

I don't know if it's because of last time, but I can't imagine it being good news :(

I don't think any of us ever can once we've had a mc. It just completely changes your outlook. It'd be so nice to just erase all the stuff we know now!

I agree with highheels though - because of your long cycle you are very likely only 5 + something. You definitely wouldn't expect to see much at that stage but a bit of breakthrough bleeding/spotting wouldn't be out of the question like I had.

I know it's impossible to distract yourself from this but I found reading books helped - took my mind of it for an hour or so at least.

I bled in all of my pregnancies. I had 4 mcs in total and two successful pregnancies. I bled more with my last pg (dd) than any other and it turned out to be a clot which did not in any way affect the pregnancy. Good luck. Thinking of you x

highheelsandequations · 05/01/2011 16:53

Hope you're doing okay orange, thinking of you.

OrangeGloss · 05/01/2011 17:03

Thanks Highheels and Owl my blood levels have doubled, but less than an hour of getting the call I had awful pain and bleeding :( it's subsiding now, but I just feel numb

So sorry to hear about the bleeding and pain orange but the doubling HCG is definitely a positive sign. I sometimes think that the worst thing about these situations is the not knowing and waiting. xx

OrangeGloss · 05/01/2011 18:41

You're right after all my stressing I'm just trying to take it easy and be glad I got pg at all, I know I am so lucky compared to some
