12 weeks round here - think it is the norm though.

May be worth contacting and chasing up.

well when i was pregnant i went to see the doctor and he told me i needed to make an appt with the midwife.
so i did. then had a booking appt at around 12 weeks i think

Roobie · 02/10/2005 20:28

It's supposed to be 12 weeks round here ...although last time round I had to chase them up when I still hadn't heard anything by 14 weeks. Definitely worth a chase or maybe a call to your GP asking when you might expect to hear.

hi

i have been to the gp at 4 weeks and was told i would have scan at 12 weeks and midwife would contact me before to book app.

i just thought that they must send a letter out a few weeks before scan date?

this stage feels like forever - just cant wait for it to all get going

I saw the dr at 5 weeks, m/w rang at 8 weeks m/w first apt at 10 weeks scan at 12 weeks then m/w at 16 weeks scan at 20 weeks.

Gem13 · 03/10/2005 10:04

Chase the midwife.

My friend couldn't get an appointment before her scan was due (despite ringing at 6 weeks!) but she spoke to her midwife who arranged a scan for her before the booking appointment.

Enid · 03/10/2005 10:05

you dont need to see the gp any more round my way.

book in directly with the midwife at about 8 weeks - they do the actual 'booking in appt' at about 10/12 weeks (blood tests etc)

my midwife moans about women that go and see her when they are 4/5 weeks pg

LeahE · 03/10/2005 10:05

I had the first scan at 13 weeks and the midwife booking appointment the next week. I'd had the letter through with the appointment dates at around 8/9 weeks, though.

expatinscotland · 03/10/2005 10:08

I didn't get a booking in appointment w/my first till I was 16 weeks along! Had scan at 13 weeks.

Maddison · 03/10/2005 10:32

I had my booking in appt with my mw when I was 10 weeks (or so I thought). Had my scan 2 weeks later which put me back 2 weeks, so in actual fact I was only 8 weeks pg ( I had only found out I was pg 1 week before i saw mw)

flamebat · 03/10/2005 10:37

I had to make an appointment with the midwife at about 9 weeks (no letter or anything, just sort it myself), and then we did proper booking in at about 13 weeks.

ChaCha · 03/10/2005 10:43

Booking appt was done with GP at about 10 weeks if i remember correctly. Did not see m/w until about 15weeks and then again at 29wks. Have seen her twice and am now 32+. Next appt at 33wks.

Lovecloud - I woudl ring your local surgesy and ask them what their procedure is as the process will vary depending on where you are.

For us - you make an appointment to see the mid-wife for when you expect to be about 8/9 weeks for 'booking in' and initial bloods. She then arranges for your scan (ours is dating and nuchal fold all in one) at 12 weeks and then you see the midwife again at 16 weeks.

Just ring the doctors and ask them what to do. no point making yourself anxious!

Fangache · 03/10/2005 11:25

I was told to make an appointment with the midwife around 8/9weeks.
