Is it time to ditch the diet? Can I have a hand getting some perspective?

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this or can advise. I am 8 weeks pg with dc2 (DD1 was term + 8days, normal and healthy pregnancy). I know for many people this thread will sound stupid but I have had years of battling with eating disorders and I'm fine now but I just need a little help on perspective

However, this pregnancy instead of feeling hot I've felt cold, tired and quite shakey. I am fit anf healthy and have kept up the sport I usually do (a bit of running and going to the gym) but I can't seem to shake the cold, shakey feeling. I never had this with dd1 but since having her 18 months ago I have lost an extra stone (healthily and steadily through slimming world) and went from a size 12-14 to a 10.

I have massivley relaxed the diet- and thought I would feel better- I don't and I've lost more weight. Now dont get me wrong I'm not complaining I;ve lost weight or anything but I'm just confused how I can go from eating a very low fat diet to eating lots of high calorie stuff and still loose weight. Is it normal? Does your body just burn more calories when pregnant? Will it bite me in the ass? Grin

What should I do- do I ditch the diet- which imporved my eating no end?

In each pregnancy I have put on a lot of weight which has been hard to shift, however not really until 2nd trimester.

I would keep with the diet but increase portions.

If you are eating healthily and baby is growing at the normal rate, don't worry. I am 15 + 5 and up until last week I was not gaining, and even losing a couple of pounds. Then about 3 days ago, I suddenly caught up, out of nowhere. Literally happened overnight.

I've not gained massively at 25 weeks and I'm not on a diet unless you count additional chocolate. I think your body is just burning more calories.

Was your diet a very strict calorie controlled one or was it just eating healthier with lots of fruit and veg and fewer carbs? If it was the latter type I'd stay with it as that's more a healthy eating plan than a diet and increase the amount of carbs as well as choosing a fewer non-low-fat options from time to time.

Congratulations :)
