Has anyone any information on this. Does a c/s have to be carried out.

No a CS does not need to be carried out. It would be advisable to have a CS if a first episode of genital herpes occured at or around the time of birth. There are fairly recent guidelines from the RCOG re this so your obstetric team should be well up on it. If not, suggest they take a look!
