When to tell work?

I am 9weeks pregnant with my first, and am unsure when I should be telling work/HR. My boss knows, but that's it. Is it down to me to inform HR or does my boss? How early should they be told, as I believe at our place they do some sort of risk assesment (ensure that you are sat at your desk correctly, have a suitable chair/foot rest etc) Thanks

All employers do a risk assessment once they know someone is pregnant. If all you do is a desk job it is unlikely your work is exposing you to any genuine risk.

You have a duty to tell them at least 15 weeks before you want to start maternity leave i.e. 25 weeks. In all honesty I wouldn't tell them yet, but if your boss knows you might as well make it official anyway. Why does your boss know?

I am 9 weeks as well. I don't have another midwife appointment until mid Feb so I will tell them then.

Thanks - I only told my boss as I was really poorly at the beginning and I wanted him to know the real reason (I have no issues talking to him on a personal matter). I was hoping that they didnt need to know until later on, so you have reassured me!
