Could I be pregnant????

Im wondering if any of you could shed some light! I last had a period on 20 November 2010 - had a copper coil fitted on 9 December 2010 only to be told my periods would be horrid and heavy anyway accepted this as I dont want hormone contraception! To date I have not had a period its been 40 days - I went to the clinic that fitted my coil yesterday they did a test and it was negative, but the lady said it could be too early! Great! She said I really should have had a period by now! I last did the deed (sorry TMI) on 18 December the day my peiod was due!

Anyway was hoping someone could help as I have never missed a period before (only when pregnant!)

Well the obvious answer is yes, you could. However I'm assuming you normally have a 28 day ish cycle and therefore you would now be almost two weeks late - and I would have thought a test would give you a positive by now if you are.

If I were you, I'd leave it a few days, do another test and if it's still negative and no period, go to the Doc's and have a blood test done.

FWIW, contraception played havoc with my sister's periods and she ended up doing loads of tests, only for them to all be negative and her periods eventually returned to normal.

Do you have a Minera type coil? I had one of these a few years ago and had incredibly light periods and I know some women don't get any periods at all with them, which is completely normal.
