Lots of kicking - boy or girl?

Ok, so after TC's heartbeat thread I wondered if anyone thought there was a link between how active the baby is in the womb and their sex? When carrying ds his movements were strong but not often, eg. long activity lasted upto 15mins at a time. However, with this pg (my 2nd pg) this baby is sooooooo active. It does sleep lots, particularly when I'm busy doing stuff, but once sitting down, particularly at 9pm!, it just kicks and wriggles and kicks and wriggles for about an hour before dropping off for a short kip and starting up again... I'm sure it'll be a boxer.

So is this another boy or could it be a girl??

PS. Carrying the same, all out front, bump looks almost identical, but then again this could just be my 'pg shape'. My mum said she looked the same for all three of hers which were boy, girl, girl.
PPS. Have resisted asking about heart rate this time round cos it gave us too big a clue last time!

99.... I had identical pregnancies, both lasted 39+2 wks.... both babies weighed 7lb. Both babies were very active.... and always seemed to have the hiccoughs!

But.... I have a ds and a dd. Don't think it makes a difference really.... its more the nature of the baby. My dd is a much more active and hyper child than ds too!

When carrying dd her movements were strong and very often, she was also very active at night. Dont know if thats any help, im 16 weeks pg and cant wait to find out the sex, realy want a boy, havnt felt much movement yet.

hi all

I'm now 36wks so the 'guessing game' has gotten unbearable I just want to know!

These two pg's started off completely differently and the kicking in third trimester is a big difference, but I look exactly the same and all my girlfriends reckon it's another boy...

Oh well.. will just have to wait another four wks to find out (or six!!!)

99redballoons - or 2..

Honestly I don't believe any of it - you have a 50/50 chance of being right anyway! I've had 2 boys and a girl and am having a boy now and they sometimes I've felt different and sometimes I've felt the same! Shape has a lot to do with your figure and the baby's position. Heartrate does seem to give you a hint but why? There is no evidence that it is true over hundreds of pregnancies or why it should be true.

Think it maybe to do with baby's personality rather than gender. My ds was a real wriggly kicker and he's the same now he's 3! dd was quieter (she's now the sensitive caring older sis) and the one baking in tum now is quite quiet but has its moments!

expatinscotland · 30/09/2005 22:42

This one is amazingly active. Especially right about this time of night. Hope it sorts its days and nights out.

DD - I can't remember, tbh. I had antenatal depression, but didn't recognise it and so didn't seek treatment. It dulled my memory.

Don't think it has anything to do w/gender, though.

misdee · 30/09/2005 22:43

i'm guessing its going to be a baby!!

hunkermunker · 30/09/2005 22:45

DS was incredibly wriggly and kicked really, really hard - felt him at 15 weeks and just got stronger!

This one is the same - very wriggly with very large movements - real belly-shaking stuff! But early pregnancy was different, so not sure of gender.

DS was very strong when he was born, and has stayed that way. When he was about a year old, he could bench-press his cot...

first babe - lots of kicking, never still, fast heart rate, all round just looked fat - DD

2nd babe - also quite a mover but slower heart rate, all out the front - did not look pregnant from the back - DD

purpleturtle · 01/10/2005 03:48

Think you could be right there, Misdee!

Hi all It's great to hear your stories...

I'm starting to think it's personality aswell. Ds is a gentle soul and he was like that in the womb. This one is so busy I don't think it'll stop for a second once it's crawling . They also say 2nd babies are more placid cos you're more confident etc. but I'll prepare myself for this one to possibly go against the grain!

Toothache.. pls don't say that, we're def not ready for it to come early!!
