Hi,

I'm due in April and DH wants to go away for our last 'quiet' holiday. I'll be 25-26 weeks. Do you think this will be ok? Also any suggestions to where you think we should go?

Thanks for your help

I went to Egypt at 20 weeks- lovely and warm!

DP and I went to The Canaries at the end of Nov. I was 31 weeks and was fine apart from a little uncomfortable on the flight. We chose The Canaries cos it was far enough away to feel like a proper holiday with a bit of sun but the flight was only 4 hours so wasn't too bad. I'd check with your MW make sure she can't foresee any issues and then go for it. Enjoy x

just watch your insurance, some policies don't cover you past 28 weeks. And airlines have restrictions too. But at 25-26 weeks you'll be fine!

I'm due in April and we booked up last night to go to the Canaries in 10 days time, I'll be 24/25 weeks!! Very excited, and as long as it's warm enough for me to not have to wear seven jumpers I'll be having the time of my life Xmas Grin

Although since booking I am now wondering what on earth I'm going to be wearing whilst I'm there, fingers crossed that enough of my summer clothes still fit, and toes crossed that those that do match.

furry I had to go and buy a whole new set of summer clothes cos I realised my whole maternity wardrobe was big jumpers and thick tights lol. We went to Fuerteventura and it was 25-26 degrees every day. Bliss! Just get yourself a load of maxi dresses off ebay (if you can get delivery in time) and they'll be perfect. enjoy Xmas Smile

i went to egypt when i was expecting my first too, i cant remember how many weeks but i had him in june and went in april, and was pretty huge by that time. just had to get a letter from doctor to say its okay to fly. i would recommend it, its good to have that time together beforehand cos its more difficult to get the chance to travel with small kids and also if you do its not the same i would think its quite a different kind of holiday cos your focus is more the dc, not so carefree and relaxed (i wouldn't know really as we have not made it anywhere since lol) but hopefully will get organised and go somewhere now before dc3 is born
tbh i dont think it matters so much where u go, wherever it is just the chance to go away together is important. hope you have a nice holiday

thefurryone · 22/12/2010 20:53

Thanks missCKtty we're off on 2nd Jan so what with christmas, new year and the weather I reckon there is probably zero chance of getting anything delivered on time.

Just had a trying on session and fortunately I do still fit into vest tops and a couple of dresses and also have some skirts I can wear under bump. Really loathed to buy anything as I'll definitely not be pregnant by the time summer comes.

We went to a lovely island off the coast of Mexico called Cozumel, returning when I was 26 weeks. I think I had a letter form my midwife confirming my dates, and had double checked that our travel insurance would be valid (Lloyds TSB).

It was fab, really relaxing. No need for any immunisations, anti malarials etc.

Thanks for your replies. After talking about Caribbean, Mexico and Cape Verde it looks like we've now decided on Gran Canaria because of the nice short flight.

Thx for your help

I flew at 26 weeks and back at 28 weeks. Although some airlines will carry you, you normally need a GPs letter to fly. Check with them and avoid a last minute mad panic like I had! Enjoy Smile
