Asthma playing up - anything to do with pregnancy?

Extra info - I am 15 weeks and have had a bad throat for the last few days which is making it worse, but the asthma started getting bad again a couple of weeks ago. I have managed it with just one puff of the preventative for the last couple of years and this is my 2nd child. No problems with my allergies with the last one. Oh, and I have had a blocked nose since I was 3 weeks gone and this is pissing me off right royally too

Anybody with similar?

I had very bad asthma first pg and eventually got a light dose of steroids which sorted it. Was very grim. Pg2 was absolutely fine though so it's the luck of the draw.

Sinuses can go haywire also (all your soft bits sort of swell in pg don't they) which might account for the blocked nose.

I read yesterday that about 20% of pregnant women get a stuffy nose/have trouble breathing during pregnancy, which is what I've had for the past 5 out of my 6 months! It's either b/c of our increased blood flow and/or hormones. My GP thought nothing of it b/c my heart rate was fine, but it's annoying not to be able to breathe properly! Another side effect is that DH has to "suffer" with my loud snoring! :)

I sometimes use nose strips, which I understand are not medicated, on my nose at night and it helps a bit. Hopefully your GP will have a slightly stronger solution considering you've had asthma before.

I suffer with rhinitus anyway and in pregnancy it is 10 times worse. I have a nasal spray (beconase) which is fantastic, you don't need to suffer, so go and get some from your doctor.

I have had a cold for 6 days now and my asthma (that never bothers me) is really playing up. I'm taking my inhaler every 4 hours but I am struggling so I am going to the docs tomorrow I think. I am putting it down to being 33 weeks pregnant with a stinking cough and cold that is making it worse.
