Hi

I went to doc and was diagnosed with acute Laryngitus. I'm currently 34.5 weeks pg.

Anyhow - have woken up today and feel awful and can't speak.

How long will it last for? And is there anything i can do?

Doctor just said take paracetomol - but not doing anything for it!

I've had laryngitis and pharyngitis several times unfortunately! It's a virus so there really isn't much else you can do.

It's really important to get LOTS of rest, particularly as you're preg. Also, try to strain your voice. As your voice is gone, don't try whispering as this strains it, if you can't speak normally then don't! You need to rest your throat as much as your body.

Paracetamol and lots of warm drinks, I try to avoid dairy products as they can cause mucous production, so fruit/herbal teas or even black tea would be good.

Get well soon!

thanks! I'm already writing notes - and my dad just turned round and said 2don't be silly what do you want?" and tried to speak and can't - so no chance of a whisper!

How long do you think it'll hang around for???

Hard to say! If you can get a good few days of complete rest you'll be on the right track, but I can remember feeling wiped out for weeks I'm afraid.
