is it safe to dye your hair (yourself) whilst pregnant?

i am 16 weeks tommorow, and would like to know if it is safe to dye my hair. seeing as my routes of my natural colour is coming through very badly!

has anyone dyed their hair whilst pregnant and everything been fine? :/

Yes - always dyed mine (well, make dh do it for me!!) Have 2 very big and very healthy children Smile

its just, quite a few people were telling me to go carefull, because it can harm baby... but really wanted to find out from someone experienced... thanks!

I think it's fine after the first 12 weeks, when you should avoid things like that. I waited till about 14 wks before dying mine. The other option is to go to the hairdressers as they can use 'kinder' stuff that has less chemicals, but of course then it's much more expensive. I'm going to the salon after xmas to treat myself as I'll be big as a whale and waiting for baby, so might as well make my hair look nice as I sure as hell won't have the time when he/she arrives!

I've just had mine done, I'm 16 weeks and waited what felt like ages to be past the 12 weeks stage (I must have looked like Cruella de Ville with all the white streaks showing..) there are plenty of organic colours you can use, I guess it depends on how drastic the colour change is!

I've been advised that it's a good idea to get your hair done in week 38-39 so that you look reasonable in the "New mum and Baby" photos that inevitably get taken in hospital! (you'll look knackered, but hopefully not too uncared-for!)
