I am currently taking clexane injections (alongside low dose aspirin) after 3 consectuive miscarriages. Whilst not pleasant, it is over in seconds and apart from some brusies I have had no side effects.

HTH!

I am (also aspirin & high dose folic acid) - I have mildly elevated anticardiolipin antibodies, anti progesterone antibodies & NK activity.

I'm on pregnancy #10 (currently 12+2) with 3 live births, 2 mid trimester losses & 4 first trimester mcs. Live births have been from pregnancies I've had this treatment in, mid trimester losses happened when I had anticoagulants but not steroids (in one case I had IVIg & had a massive immune flare :( ), first trimester losses were no treatment or aspirin only.

I come off pred/cyclogest at 12-14 weeks, aspirin (150mg which is double accepted mc dose) & clexane are continued to 24 hours before delivery which is at 37-38 weeks by elective c-section. I have scans and see obs every two weeks throughout the pregnancy & have dopplers for placental function from 24 weeks every 4-6 weeks.

Treatment is on the NHS btw - initially I went to ARGC for testing but managed to persuade my NHS consultant to treat me on the basis of my history really rather than test results (she feels that 4 first trimester losses is abnormal & one, let alone two, mid-trimester losses is very abnormal - even without evidence from trials my history speaks for itself).

prednisolone is horrible - hunger, weight gain, hair growth, , insomnia - always v. happy to come off it (on plus side it helps with the nausea).

clexane - sometimes stings & bruises but no other effects

progesterone - only side effect I get is bloating.

ALittleLemonTwist · 20/12/2010 13:00

Yep - I'm 6+3. Early days but we saw a heartbeat at an early scan this morning so hopefully that is a good sign.

Don't feel any different being on clexane, only having very mild pg symptoms - slight nausea and tiredness but that's it

Dropdeadfred · 20/12/2010 13:10

thanks again...i will now admit to being 5w6d pg..and taking all 3 medications
I have no real symptoms aprt from tiredness and sometime i think my boobs are ender...but both of these could be down to the progesterone i've read....

Hello. Been taking pred since May this year - 60mg, then a taper to current level of 10mg a day. It completely masked my pregnancy symptoms - was 12 weeks before I knew! All seems well from tests and scans, so I'm probably no more worried than the next mum to be.

I stay on the pred til our baby is born, as the risk of taking it is 'better' than the risk of my kidney problem returning.

That's a very low dose, and no side effects to report, but on 60mg - different story! Insomniac but euphoric at the same time. Moon face too - yuk.

HTH in some way.

Thanks Ruby ... and congratulations x
