cece · 19/12/2010 20:49

Not for me either. But if you like it...

SmacSmackedSanta · 19/12/2010 20:49

oh and there is a baby name section here

reikizen · 19/12/2010 20:49

80's Sci-fi character?

Jojay · 19/12/2010 20:49

Ditto

PuraVida · 19/12/2010 20:50

I'd think you'd made it up

TrillianAstra · 19/12/2010 20:52

I think if you have to say 'what do you think of the girls name...?' rather than just 'what do you think of the name...?' then that's a bad sign.

sum04 · 19/12/2010 20:57

It's suppose to be quite popular over in the States.
My daughter is called Summer, which 6 years ago wasn't very popular, but i like the more unusual names.
Im just wondering if this is a little too unusual :)

All aboard the Skyla!

Wish I could remember which kids' TV show it's from...

CupcakesHay · 19/12/2010 21:02

I thought Skyler was a boys name?

southeastastra · 19/12/2010 21:03

it's okay sounds acceptable imo anyway

snownutty · 19/12/2010 21:05

I wanted this name (although I was spelling it Skylar). It's origins are Danish I believe - we have no Danish connections though, I just loved it.

DH did not Sad.

We had a boy but now I'm expecting DC2 I'm trying again to convince him. I don't fancy my chances but....

Try not to worry about what others think. They might not like the name initially but your DD will grow on them and so will her name.

All aboard the skylark is from Noah and Nelly

jinglesticks · 19/12/2010 21:05

very pretty. If its popular in the estates i bet it gets more popular here.

smoggii · 19/12/2010 21:10

I like it. My cousin's little girl is called Starla which i also think is very pretty.

sum04 · 19/12/2010 21:10

I dont quite get how the name Skyla resembles a sci-fi character?
I personally thought it was an unusual pretty name.

sum04 · 19/12/2010 21:11

I think it's quite sad that people can slate unusual names so easily, but no one pays any attention when someone chooses a very common name.

OP posts:
Ephiny · 19/12/2010 21:13

I think it's a pretty name too. I can't remember ever hearing of one in the UK so it might be quite unusual here, more common in the US as someone said.

Just Sky(e) is nice as well.

shinyshoesandglitterypoos · 19/12/2010 21:15

Sounds like a swedish airport lounge. Sorry.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 19/12/2010 21:17

I know a Skyla - not to my taste I'm afraid

Ephiny's right - Sky/e is lovely

Lastyearsmodel · 19/12/2010 21:31

Thanks PictureThis. Funny how these things stick in your head.

woodforthetrees · 19/12/2010 21:41

It sounds like the name of that scary character off Heroes (series 1) - sorry ! that was the first thing I thought of - together with "all aboard the......."

Ignore me though....I'm a bit staid in the names department...

Scouseem · 19/12/2010 21:43

I think its beautiful. Were having a boy another wise I'd use it as well.

"no one pays any attention when someone chooses a very common name"

No, of course they don't. Do you generally pay attention when someone does something that is very common?
