Do you think it's okay to eat these in pregnancy?
Just been googling and nhs website says to avoid cured meats while food standards agency website makes no mention of it.
Was thinking that if the danger is toxoplasmosis, then surely saucisson would be okay if I peeled the skin off, so no dirt on it?
BTW - I'm only very early stages pregnancy Smile

Have just totally pigged out on smoked salmon - I thought it was safe! Oh well, it is far too yummy to give up.

No to saucisson (cold cured meat) but yes to smoked salmon. I think the prob with cured meats is lysteria not toxoplasmosis. Also is there an issue with the skin in the same way we are not supposed to eat mould ripened cheese? Anyway, good quality smoked salmon that is packed and previously frozen is fine...am totally addicted to the stuff - the prob is the worms but these are killed by smoking and freezing.
