Hi

My hubby and I are contemplating a 7 night holiday in late January, I will be around 28 weeks pregnant. We are thinking of booking a late break to Egypt/Morocco. I know you are allowed to fly up to around 7 months, so I will be within the time scale. However, I am feeling a bit anxious about going abroad at this late stage..Any advice much appreciated?

Take your medical notes with you. Ask your midwife or research exercises for on the plane. Buy bottle water air side so you have extra on the plane and make sure you stand up and walk around the plane no matter what. Make sure you let the airline know your condition and remind crew on the plane. Check your hotel has excellent food hygiene standards and whether there is a doctor who serves the hotel or where the nearest one is. Check where your nearest hospital is too. Have the best medical insurance you can afford. Do not sunbath, stick to the shade and make sure you drink plenty through the day to avoid dehydration.

Hope this helps x

I flew back from Australia at 24 weeks and was absolutely fine. Take loads and loads of water on board, exercise in the air and just follow the usual pg guidance in terms of what to eat / too much sun etc... and you'll be fine. A change of scene will do you good!

I think flying will be fine but we went to Egypt this year and although everything was clean( v nice hotel) we all got upset tummies. I would think the risk of morocco would be similar. How about the canaries? Warm, nearer and better equipped if you were ill.

I'm also planning a holiday around this stage of pregnancy in Jan. I've ruled out Egypt as everyone I know who's been there has ended up with an upset stomach and I just wouldn't be able to relax. A Pregnant friend went to Morocco at 25ish weeks and had a great time.

Hi, thanks for your replies. I have been to Egypt twice before and Marrakech tree times before and have never had a problem with upset tummy etc...I suppose I am just feeling extra cautious as I will be quite heavily pregnant. My main worry would be the hospital care/hygiene if something were to unexpectedly happen?! Canaries might be an option..I will have to have a think. Cheers though ladies! x
