Hi,

I am due on 12th jan and had a growth scan at 35 weeks which showed the estimated baby weight to be 7lb13 already, now if the half a pound a week rule is correct, that puts baby at pretty much 10 pounds............

I had a daughter 16 months ago, 2 weeks late so induced, she weighed in at 9lb8oz!

Anyone had any experience of growth scan weight estimates being accurate or not??

A friend's growth scan put her dd at over 7lbs at 35 weeks - she was under 7lbs when she was born four weeks later!

that is promising! i'm not expecting to have a small baby after my first being 9.5 but growth scan at 35 weeks with first pregnancy put her at 6lb at 35 weeks, bit of a diff from the 7lb13 this time...!!

I had a scan for Growth retardation. At 36 weeks was told 4-4.5lb max, so was induced that week and DD weighed in at 6lb 20z

Growth scan at 39+6 estimated weight 9lb 8oz
Baby born 4 days later 10lb 6oz.

Growth scans are notoriously inaccurate.even my sonographer said so at the time.

First baby was 9lb 5oz.11 days late.

I think they can be quite wrong. Plenty of stories to back this up.

DS1 at 37 weeks was estimated at 8 lbs. Born 11 days late and was 11 lbs and 4 oz. Don't worry big babies are great!

I had a growth scan at 35 weeks I think they said she was about 6lb she was born at 38 weeks at 6lb 15oz, I do'nt think they are all that accurate really!

I had a growth scan at 36 weeks, they told me he would be over 9lb when he was born...now admittedly he was a couple weeks early, due to being induced, but he was still only 7lb1.
