Another scan? should I worry?

As previously explained on another thread, I had my 20 week scan, then one at 22 weeks, as they couldn't see everything they needed to. When I went for the last one, the midwife said was still unclear (baby lying on its tummy and wouldn't turn over) and they might send me for another one. I asked, as I have a growth scan at 28 weeks, if it would be before that and she said no it was unlikely.

However this morning I had a letter come through with another scan date on 23rd december. Hubby is panicking, as she said it was unlikely to be yet, and the fact its so close to christmas he thinks it is urgent. I am going by the fact the letter said to bring my notes and letter, but didn't mention a sample which is usually always mentioned when they have you in with the doctor as well. My reasoning is, surely if there is something to worry about they would have me in with her.

BUT the thing mainly thats worrying me, you get booked in with one consultant, and this scan appointment, is with a totally different consultant. So surely if there was no cause for concern, they would just wait and book me in at my own consultants time?

They are trying to clear waiting lists & your usual consultant is off on Hols 23 Dec.
I know it's stressful (BTDT with DC1) but look at it as box ticking admin exercises. That's what 98% of pregnancy procedures turn out to be, anyway.

Agree with ragged - they are trying to clear free slots. I was told they would not be able to do my 12 wk scan as fully booked yet I got a date just a week later. Dont worry about it, think about how nice to have the reassurance before xmas

It will be if it co-operates. Thats twice now they haven't been able to complete it because it refuses to turn over. If thats all it is then I won't worry, its just the "oh no you won't be called in" then next thing you have a letter and they never explain anything lol.

Oh I feel your pain! Mine wouldnt cooperate either and after 2 attempts they gave up. I then went private and my bean must have felt guilty about the cost because he behaved impecably...after the consultant had given him a sharp poke that turned him round!

I agree with others - most people are on hols and so they slotted you in. Unless you are high risk, unlikely to see the same consultant anyway on NHS. They just need to complete your anomaly scan.

Good luck.

I know we don't normally see the same consultant, cos I have never seen them yet lol. I always get underdogs. But you usually stay on the same doctors list, thats what worried me, but if its just slot filling I can cope with that...assuming it doesn't snow Hmm

LOL @ Jasmine. See I can't understand why, after hearing other peoples stories, they haven't had me moving about, or drinking cold/fizzy drinks or standing me on my head lol. Unless its because they are always packed in there. He did move a lot, just not turn over.

I think personally, he is playing awkward as this is the only one we have ever wanted to know what it is, so as soon as he hears me say "if you can see what it is we would like to know" he turns over deliberately...a bit like when you are trying to get your partner to feel them kicking and they stop lol. This time I'm not going to ask, until they say they can see its front.

Rang hospital this morning to see what they said as noticed letter said contact specialist midwives instead of clinic in case of contact.

She said I am under specialist for the scan, hence why I have a different doctors name, as the last 2 scans were incomplete. But she said as someone else did on here, it was just a matter of checking everything and ticking boxes, and assuming they can see this time, I will be put back on my original consultants list. Hope that hasn't messed up my 28 week scan.

Anyway, assuming it behaves definately nothing to worry about :)
