Panicking over sudden loss of symptoms

Hello everyone,

I'm hoping you'll tell me what a daft cow I'm being (but also be straight with me, if that's not too much to ask Xmas Smile).

I'm currently 9 weeks with DC3. After 2 mcs last year at around 11 weeks, I've naturally been nervous in this pregnancy but reassured by having very strong symptoms: nausea, sore boobs, exhausted, complete shit for brains, that sort of thing. Anyway, on Wednesday I woke up and felt nada. Felt absolutely normal. I saw it as a brief respite and made the most of it, fully expecting symptoms to return but they haven't. I feel almost completely normal. In addition, I have a slight 'pre-period' feeling in my tummy (that sort of downward pulling feeling). I've had no bleeding or spotting.

So, of course, I'm panicking that I'm having a mmc. What do you think?

If you are concerned I would speak to your midwife/GP about it but in the meantime try not to worry about it too much. The same thing happend to be. I got to about 9/10 weeks and then lost all symptoms. I have previously been suffering morning sickness, sore boobs etc too and then suddenly they all just stopped. I tried not to worry about it too much and within a week they returned again. Apparently it can be normal for this to happen so try not to worry too much although I have never had a mmc so for your own peace of mind maybe worth a chat with the midwife etc.

Hope this reasures you a little

I'd speak to a MW/GP. Given that you've had two MCs, they should be able to refer you for an early scan.

Good luck! Everything crossed for you...

Thanks for your responses.

I spoke to the midwife yesterday and asked for an early scan but the EPAU wouldn't accept me because I'm not bleeding and I've only had 2 mcs in a row, rather than 3.

I'm really trying not to panic. I'm aware that symptoms can ease off, it's just that they stopped so suddenly. I was nervous anyway in this pregnancy because of the mcs but was reassured by the strong symptoms I was having.

Hi Prinpo - I too have heard symptoms can come and go; it doesn't necessarily mean anything bad.

The period-feeling I have first-hand experience of however: I got it quite a lot in the first few weeks and now at 11 weeks it still comes and goes. I scared me a lot in the beginning but I really think it's just stretching etc. I've got my first scan in 6 days so I can tell you for sure then!

Thanks, Smiler, good to hear you've experienced similar. Best of luck with your scan - great that you'll get it all done in time for Christmas.

Quick update: I'm feeling a bit nauseous again. Nothing like what it was, but I'm taking it as an encouraging sign. Xmas Smile

Hey search my posts or the word fluctuating I had some good responses as I had same worries as you and 2 previous losses. I had 2 early scans at epu they told me after 1 st loss they would see me so it's a shame you had a lack of support. mine disappeared for 3 to 4 days and usually come back with a vengeance!!

I paid for a private scan once I made it past my 9 th week which is when I had my d&c and baby is fine.
And I won't het nhs scan until later than wanted.

I had 1 mmc and 1 mc. Message me if I can help or u have any questions. I am 9 weeks 4 days x x

Prinpo · 20/12/2010 23:07

Thanks, Jimmy, I was quite surprised that EPAU wouldn't see me too. Glad yours were more supportive and delighted for you that your recent scan went well.

I think I've just decided to wait it out until the 12 week scan. I'm reassured by the absence of bleeding (although I know it could be mmc) but I've got some symptoms back, albeit milder than before, so I'm just going to concentrate on Christmas and assume all is well.
