Leg cramps at 32 weeks

Anybody know of any remedies for severe legs cramps (calves) which wakes me up in agony about 4 times a night??

I have heard that it is a magnesium and salt deficiency - does anyone know if this is correct? I don't think you can take magnesium when pregnant though .....

bananas work for a lot of people and are rich in magnesium koalabear.
Ouch....I remember well how painful these are.

so, a banana a day, keeps night cramps away then - thanks

As well as banana, make sure that when you stretch your legs you do it with your toes coming towards you rather than away.

I also went for a nice system of whacking DH lots yelling "argh argh argh" and he would rub my legs.

I was only going to suggest a banana as well... But I thought it was the potasium in the banana that did the trick? My dh seems to think that salt helps too (an old army trick) so perhaps a bag of crisps with that banana...

Are you really not supposed to take magnesium? I am sure that the calcium supplement I have contains magnesium as well. More to worry about!
