Help me figure out the dates?!

Now, this is a little embarassing as I'm already in my 3rd month, BUT:

As I was on the call with a midwife today,tring to rearrange my scan date (set for Jan, 5), she said I shouldn't be concerned as I would be about 12 weeks then.

So far I have been calculating my weeks based on LMP/Conception date but now I'm confused. My LMP was 27th of September, but I'm prety sure I conceived around the 15-16th of October (as that's when my hubby was back from a long trip). I believe I had implanatation at around the 30th of OCtober (I took it as the start of my period then). So based on all these dates, I should be around 14-15 weeks pregnant by Jan, 5(my scan date). I'm concerned that my scan may end up happening too late. THe midwife didn't seem to calculate the weeks in the same fashion!? Is there any alternative formula and should I put more effort into rescheduling my scan?

I think you are right.

My last LMP was 16th Sept (so 11 days bedfore you) and i had my 12 week scan on Fri 10th Dec. According to the scan they put me down as 12+3.
if your dates are similar, you would be 11+4 ish today?
5th Jan would mean you would be 14+4 on your first scan. I think the Nuchal scan is supposed to be performed by 13+6 latest?

This dating calendar gives you a date for each week - which agrees you'd be 14+ on Jan 5.

Have you got a number for the clinic where they'll do the scan? I'd be inclined to ring them direct, explain the situation and ask their advice.

(Just as a stray thought, do they offer nuchal scans in your area - not all PCT's do and if yours don't that may explain why the MW has booked you in so late.)

Thank you for getting back to me, ladies...I did speak to the midwife again today and she somehow managed to find a slot for the 21st of December! This should be right in the middle of my 12th week and hopefully will all go well.

Is there anything I need to do before I go out for the booking apoointment and for teh scan? I still don't have any confirmation letter with instructions from teh hospital..

IIRC then for a scan about then they ask you to turn up with a full bladder - suggested as drinking 1 pt of water about an hour before. The risk is that they're running late... Or you have my problem and all the sonographer can see is bladder .

Once you're there, though, they're usually quite good on shuffling around - for 12 week scan I got sent to the loo (and it was then fine, even with empty bladder so don't worry too much) and for 20 week scan she was fast asleep in a very unhelpful position so I got sent to go for a walk round the car park.
