18 weeks...is this normal?

I'm just 18 weeks but feel like I have a very big tummy/bump. It's really started to show and become rounder over the past week and starts right from the top under my ribs. I'm feeling great but just wonder how big other people are/ have been at this stage and what's normal. If this is how i feel now I can hardly imagine how things are going to progress!

Yep, same here - I'm 19 weeks now, and I've really noticed my tummy 'popping' out rapidly in the past 2 weeks. DH has also noticed. When I catch myself in a mirror, I'm thinking, yep, definitively pregnant, not just fat anymore! :)

I am 19 weeks and when I am undressed it is popping out from the ribs. When I am dressed, it is not noticeable. I was fairly thin before pregnancy though and have put on approx 5 pounds so far... I guess it all went on the tummy Smile.

I got offered a seat on the tube for the first time at only 17 weeks. I am 5 months pregnant now, but friends tell me that my bump looks more like 6!! And this is my 1st baby, normally wear a dress size 10. So, I guess everyone is different and there are no set rules. Some people small for dates, some big. You may be carrying a lot of water...either way enjoy your lovely developing bump!

That's reassuring cos i def fit into the 'look 6 months' category which I feel a bit embarrassed about when I have to say where I really am. I also was under the belief that if you were 'curvier' to start with you'd show later which has been the case with people I know. But this is certainly a bump shape and not a wobbly tummy like I had before!

I asked the sonographer about my bump, as it suddenyl ballooned out at 20 weeks and is up by my ribs. She told me that it totally depends on how you are carrying (high/low etc) and not sure how tall/small you are, but I'm only 5ft2" and she said that because my torso is shorter, the baby is taking up more room than it would on a taller person. Not sure if that's helpful, but it's so true that every pregnancy is different. Don't worry hon x

I'm the same. Almost 18 weeks and a firm noticeable bump, but bit fat and squidgy round the ribs. I blame the rather-too-healthy appetite I had in the first 8 weeks! Well, baby was hungry... Wink Plus, there are 3 of us in my office all expecting within 2 weeks of one another and we're all looking pretty pg. Am sure we'll all be fine! x

Well I feel a whole load better since seeing Holly Willoughby on tv tonight! She's about the same stage and had a noticeable bump going on and has filled out. If it's good enough for her then i guess mere mortals like us can get on with it!! It's seemed a bit softer and squidgier the last couple of days and actually preferred it when it was big and firm, less like I've just eaten too many mince pies even though it's probably mostly down to fluid etc.

I'm only just under 11 weeks and already look noticably pregnant! I was huge with DS2, so I suspect I will be the same this time. I wasn't even this big at 11 weeks with my twins!

Danilou22 · 18/12/2010 11:24

I am 12 weeks and I am huge! I am sure I starting popping out as soon as I concieved. The midwife said it is just different for everyone and some people pop straight away and then slow down and others don't until later and then do it all in one go!

Clueless79 · 18/12/2010 15:07

That's good to know cos it's quite frightening to think how I'll end up if I keep up this pace!
