Light cramping and backache 5 weeks pregnant

Hello

I am nearly five weeks pregnant and have been having mild lower abdominal pains (kinda of like period pain with a small pulling feeling) and a light backache in the left hand side of my back for the last 24 hours. I don't have any bleeding or spotting. I have called the GP and they have advised me to rest and go in tomorrow for a check up.

I know that both of these can be a sign of miscarriage but can equally be normal early pregnancy signs but just wanted to see if any one else had experienced this early on and what the outcome had been?

Just very worried and want all to be well. Would appreciate any advice.

normal, very normal. I had it with both pregnancies, all ok. I think its just the uterus stretching.

Sounds like what I've been going through, your body is doing a lot of adjusting so don't panic. Don't let mild pain freak you out as lucybrad said your uterus is stretching and shifting it is going to feel like period pains with the joyful backache that can accompany that too. Hope all is well.

Scary I know!! but is really normal, especially in the early weeks...things are changing rapidly down there ...rest and relax, Congratulations!!.

I had this too from 4-6 weeks almost constant. Then it stopped but recurrs from time to time, especially when I'm tired. Hard not to worry, though, isn't it?!

I had what felt like bad period pain from 4 weeks to just over 7 weeks. It was horrible. But my doctor assured me it was fine and I'm now 17 weeks and it's still all fine.

I had awful backache, lower back mainly like i get with my period, for several weeks and a few tummy pains, all starting around the 5 weeks mark. try not to worry too much and just take it easy. Shouldn't be anything to worry about if you have no bleeding. Hope it turns out well for you, and CONGRATS on your pregnancy! xxx

PS i'm 37 weeks + 6 days so ok so far!

Thanks again for the reassurance. Still having some cramps but not as strong as before : ) Have been referred to EPU for a scan on Thursday and am really hoping that they say all is well! Toes, fingers, eyebrows crossed! x
