Ok, she's not an unreasonable woman by nag means and we have a very good relationship, but my DP is scared to tell her (he's 37!)!. I'm nearly 18 weeks do she needs to know NOW!
We already have one DS 2.7 and are expecting a girl so hopefully she'll be excited about that (no girls in family for 8 years). Her concerns (he thinks) are that we don't live together (nor will we be in the foreseeable!) and they we can't afford it! (who can anyway? Besides, she had 4 DC and 3 jobs...I have one and earn a decent enough wage!).
I'm sure he's made me more worried than I ought to be!
How do we tell her now?!

Well presumably if you already have one DS together, and aren't living together, then she'll be used to the set-up already?

Of course you (well, your DP, to be accurate) needs to tell her.

Why is he so scared of her reaction? Is he a mummy's boy? Grin

"Brilliant news Mum, linzi is expecting a little girl."

linziluv · 14/12/2010 10:24

He's a total mummy's boy! Is it that obvious!
We were living together when we had first but as it's a one bed flat, in such a confined space, we didnt get on so I now live a mile away and now we get on great! Love having my own space!
His mum is from the old generation where this set up is beyond her comprehension!

Just tell her in a way that shows you expect her to be pleased - that way she has to be.

Nag? Do I hear a Freudian slip??

Why is it so hard for us to tell them? It was the same for us I am 37 he is 34 we live together and already have one child. We put it off until about 19 weeks. and then we were nudging each other and trying to introduce the otherperson into a conversation so they could say it. I think i said 'Dave has some news!' and he said 'but caroline is gonna tell tuyou the details!' (snarl snarl -he passed it back ) so I said I'm having another baby.

EEk I cringe now thinking about it!

(I'm sure she already knew as she had been over to stay and I had 'antenatal hosp' written on the calendar on the fridge!

DH and i have lived seperately for nearly 5yrs!! We have a DS who is 6 we separated a year after he was born, and i am now 28+5 with DC2!! That was awkward explaining that to my parents as DH only visits at weekends and lives 90 miles away!!! By the way i am 40!!! But i am a Daddy's girl still Grin
