I am 22 weeks and have been having lots of kicks over the past week/10 days which is really great, however in the past day or 2 it really feels as if the baby is kicking downwards towards my cervix and it is getting quite uncomfortable. It feels almost as if he/she is trying to find her way out already.

Is this perfectly normal?

Thanks

perfectly normal. My ds did this for, erm, the whole pregnancy. He was a footling breech in the end so he must have liked it a lot! It felt like I was having a smear test taken from the inside

AliBellandthe40jingles · 13/12/2010 21:00

Yes very normal, unfortunately!

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 13/12/2010 21:02

Yep - had been having that for a while - turns out mine was breech too. Had a successful ECV on Friday and it's stopped - or rather, I'm being headbutted now :)

BeanInMyBelly · 13/12/2010 21:06

I have had it a lot in the past few weeks, I am 27 + 4. Had a midwife app today and apparently the head is down there so must be headbutting! Also likes hitting my bladder, very amusing for dh and co=workers, not so much for me! And the description by headfairy about the smear test from the inside is spot on! x

perfectly normal!! DS1 was breech and got kicked down there a lot but apparently this one head down at 28 weeks and still getting it!! Does feel like a limb is going to fall out your whatsit thought doesn't it Grin

DioneTheDiabolist · 13/12/2010 21:10

V. normal. DS loved to do it. That and push his head up under my ribsXmas Hmm. He was in the breach position right up until the labour and birth. Setting a precedent for the rest of his life, where he can be quite difficult, but eventually falls into line.Smile

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 13/12/2010 21:14

Yes it is. I didn't have it with DS as he was transverse until 37 weeks but this time it feels like she is trying to escape and has been doing it from 20 weeks. Its really horrible, Also keeps banging into my colon too which is making me cringe!

MrsWajs · 14/12/2010 10:31

Oooh I've been having that too! Very odd feeling! Glad to hear it's normal though!

SaraL77 · 14/12/2010 13:10

I've been getting this a lot in the last week or so (I'm 33+2) mostly at night- it prevents me sleeping- quite painful and is coupled with baby headbutting bladder and makes me feel like I need to pee!

I had it with my last pregnancy too and it seems it can happen whether baby is head down or breech- oh well the things we put up with and DH's have no idea! ;-)

ecuse · 14/12/2010 14:08

Me too! From about 19 weeks (now 22). Smear test from the inside out is exactly it.

tlise · 14/12/2010 19:55

and me, it comes keen sometimes lol.
