Mums due April 2011...20 week scan??

Hi ladies,
I am due in April and have my 20 week scan on Wednesday...very nervous and excited We want to find out the sex, so hopefully this will be possible. I am convinced it's a boy, but am trying not to get too carried away with this idea in case it's a girl.. Will the sonographer be able to say if your baby is big/small for dates at this stage? Is there anyone else due in April who has had their 20 week scan or due for one soon?

I'm due April 23rd, and have my 20 week scan next week. Good luck for Wednesday. I'm not sure if they can tell whether you are big or small for your dates, but they do sometimes re-confirm your due date, due to your size. If that makes any sense!

I had mine a few weeks back. I calculated my due date as being the 7th but the 12 week dating scan came back on the 1st, 6 days earlier. Am really not convinced I am that far along but the sonographer said all the measurements were in the right range. I think that they go with the 12 week one because they are the most accurate. However, at the check up with my midwife last week she said that I was measuring 22 weeks though baby is now 24.

I'm not holding my breath that baby will arrive on the 1st at all. A bit concerned that I'll go way overdue.

Hi, Im due 27th April and had mine last Monday at 19 + 5. Baby was measuring slightly out at 19 + 1 but apparently, according to my midwife, as long as the baby is within 10 days of 12 week dating scan, they don't worry. Plus 12 week scan is much more accurate at dating baby as babies can grow at different rates after this. I had dating scan at 8 weeks (due to early bleeding) and 12 week scan at 12 + 4 and got same due date each time so im not worring that baby is measuring slightly out.

Secondly, we also wanted to find sex out but baby was not co-operating. A little bit shy i think

Hi Leila, I am due 25th April and had my 20 week scan last week. They measure everything and track it next to due dates. Our baby has got a big tummy and short legs, apparently . So I am not paying too much attention TBH as it's all well within range. Just reassuring to see the heart doing what it should and a brain (supposedly) growing!!

I was expecting great shakes in terms of the detail of the scan - it looked just a bit bigger than 12 week one really.

But as i say, you'll be so overwhelmed at seeing little feet and everything doing what it should...nothing else really matters.

I'm due on 27 April and had my scan last week. It was really amazing I've felt so much more relaxed about everything since. Ours was very definitely a little boy... He was moving about so much we kept getting treated to a full frontal! Good job we wanted to know! They take two or three specfic measurements (length, head circumference I think and one other) and check the spine, lips (for signs of cleft palate), heart, kidneys etc. Our sonographer was lovely and explained everything as she went along pointing out various things to us. She even said the baby looked similar to his dad which made DP beam for ages. I hope yours goes well!

Just posted a very similar thread without seeing this. Oops. Yep, 20 week scan in a few hours and due April 29th. Sooo nervous and am yet to feel any movement in there, just keep thinking everything is going wrong. Can't wait to just find out. I'm 20+5, btw. I just wish I could relax and enjoy this pregnancy without fearing the worst :(

Hi i had my 20 week scan last week. Was also a dating scan as apparently more accurate than 12 week, they changed my due date and this now fits in more accurately with actual date of conception, intetesting that others reckon 12 week is more accurate though. Don't worry about not feeling movement yet it's quite normal not too. My baby moved constantly throughout the scan including turning breach and i didn't feel a thing! Good luck.

hi i am due 18th april and had 20 weeks scan at 21 weeks as I couldnt get to the hospital due to the snow!!
had the most awful sonographer who made me feel more anxious than ever, i havent felt much movement and so was nervous to see if everything was ok. the first thing she said was the baby is not moving much and then carried on measuring. finally i managed to speak and say is everything ok and she just said ' i think so'. since then I have felt more movement so feeling ok now and the midwife looked at my results and said all looked fine, but it really wasnt what i needed.

Hi I had my 20 week scan last week. I didn't ask about the sex until after the scan and they said 'sorry we don't routinely check that. You should have asked earlier!' I can't believe this as they measured the flow of blood through each tiny heart valve, checked the lips, spine, measured the femur. checked all the organs etc etc!

It is exciting but remember that this scan is to check for problems. They found one with my placenta, but having said that, now that we all know about it I am hoping there will be no real drama, just a c/s close to my due date.

Hey! I'm due on the 20th April and had my scan just over a week ago. We're expecting a wee girl! And, most importantly, everything looked good and healthy :)

They told us that she's "growing well" but I don't know if they really come up particularly big or small by this stage... Still, it was good to know.

Good luck on your scan! I hope everything is good and you can find out the sex - soooo exciting :)

Leila Good luck with the scan. I see you are already on the stats but thought there might be others who didn't know about them. I was oblivious to the AN club threads until someone pointed them it out in a Pregnancy topic.
