Hi Ladies
I am 8+2 and have been having some brown string like discharge only when I wipe myself. I happened once on Saturday, once yesterday and just now.
I am worried as had a mc in September and so desparatly want this baby.
Had an early scan last tuesday and saw heartbeat and was told that everything was good.
Can anyone else shed any light on this?

Many Thanks
xxxx

Sorry, I haven't had this myself but having suffered a miscarriage myself in July I understand why you're so worried. I do know from friends that have had successful pregnancies that it can happen and be nothing to worry about, old blood possibly. If it continues and you are still worried about it then maybe contact your gp to try and get another scan. Congratulations on this pregnancy and fingers crossed it all goes well for you.

i had full blown bleeding for a week when i was 8wks. They hospital told me to go home and wait to miscarry...but it never happened and im now 30 wks. So try not to worry as lots of women have this sort of thing & all is fine.

It might just be a little bit of breakthrough bleeding...where your hormones havent quite adjusted to the fact you are pregnant yet...so you have a slight period.

the fact you had an early scan and all was fine is positive - so just try to keep your chin up and im sure all will be fine for you.

best of luck xx

Its so stressful the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and its hard not to fear the worst but I think this blood is unlikely to be anything to worry about.

I had regular bleeds like this thoroughout my pregnancy which were caused by cervical erosion. This I believe is caused when the cells in the cervix get swollen due to increased hormones and can sometimes get irritated and bleed. The first time this happened I got into a major panic and ended up going to A & E in tears because I was so convinced I was going to lose the baby.

I was told by the obsterician that as long as the blood is not bright red and it isn't accompanied by pain then it is nothing to worry about.

p.s. DD is now 5 months old and a very healthy baby.

Best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy.

Hi ladies,

Thank you so much for you replies.

I think the 1st 12 weeks are so stressful.

I have had waves of symtoms as well and always thought that once the symptoms started they would be constant not come and go as much and never thought I would ever want morning sickness!!!!

Hi I had similar situation to you, previous mc and then brown and later fresh bleeding at about 6 weeks in this pg - was all fine at that time and like mouse thought to be due to cervical ectropion. Had repeat bleeds at 15 wks, 26 weeks and most recently 31 weeks (am now 32+4) - no cause identified so am assuming its the pesky cervix! MW said some women just bleed occasionally and its normal - though frankly terrifying each time! Just make sure you seek medical attention if you get any accompanying pain - though I guess if you've already had a scan they will have ruled out ectopic. Later on you need to be checked each time if you get any fresh bleeding to make sure its nothing more worrying.

Good luck with the rest of your pg and congrats! Xmas Smile
