Hi everyone. Am currently in hospital having had a pink/brown bleed. They have given me steroid injections to speed up the baby's lung development, but don't know why this happened, or what the prognosis might be. I am just coming up for thirty weeks.

Does anybody have any experience they can share? Baby doing fine per heartbeat monitor and moving around, so am not overly worried, but would like more information!

I fell over two weeks ago and and 24 hours later had a small bleed. I went in for monitoring and tests. All was fine.

Two days later I bled again - not a great amount, but enough to be a worry. I was admitted to hospital for three days, monitored, given steroids for the baby's lung development and a scan, as well as booked in for an additional scan and consultant appointment in a few weeks time.

I've had no further recurring issues since then.

Having a scan was a real comfort - they checked the placenta, amount of fluid, umbilical cord, baby's measurements etc.

They can't find anything further wrong with me, but I've been told to take it easy and call my midwife, or go straight back to the hospital if anything else happens.

They did tell me whilst in hospital that it's the combination of a bleed with contractions that indicate an early labour and I only had a few sporadic contractions just after the bleed and none afterwards.

Take care of yourself and ask for a scan if you're worried.

Thank you! Looks like I'm having a scan tomorrow, which will hopefully be reassuring. Glad to hear you are okay after your scare. Lots of luck for the remainder of your pregnancy and beyond!

thank you for your good wishes - all the best to you too.

the only upside from this (IMHO) are the extra scans. It's lovely to see how he's growing.

i hope you have a similar experience.

I had a reasonable bleed at around 30 weeks when I was pregnant with my DS and was taken in and given steroid injections as they suspected my son was going to make an early appearance! However despite this and the fact that he was also fully engaged from around 29 weeks he hung on in there and came out on his due day little monkey!!! :) xx

Thanks April! Now the bleed has passed and I'm out of hospital I am sure DD is going to stay put so long I'll end up being induced!
